It only seemed that Zachary had this whole date night planned in advanced. Only now, it was actually happening. The restaurant he made a reservation to was fancy. REALLY FANCY. It was a good thing that he told me in advance to dress formal, instead of casual. We found our seats, sitting across from each other and chatting silently until Stephanie came in, 5 minutes later. She was semi-formal dressed, the same old beret resting on her head.
"You know the beret does not make you look artistic right?" I stated, her devilish smile giving me chills.
"Oh shut up I look nice and you know I do. Sorry I did not really get the memo that this was a fancy dinner." She responded, taking a seat next to Zachary. She stared at the empty seat for a moment.
"Where's the boy?" She added, giving Zach a mean look.
"He is always late. He will be here soon." He responded simply, before Nico walked into the room, causing Zachary to sigh. Nico was dressed like I assume he usually does. He was dressed in everything BUT casual wear. Nico sat down, a large smile on his face before taking a seat next to me, his big hazel eyes fixated on Steph.
"What's up man." Nico yelped, doing that bro shake every man does when they see eachother.
"Nico, this is my girlfriend Audrey, Audrey this is my best friend Nico." He stated.
"Hi Steph." Nico said loudly, my face crinkling.
"Hi Nico." She responded, their hands touching eachother, before shaking.
"So you two know eachother?" Zach asked, Steph rolling her eyes.
"Of course we do. We are in French together genius." She snapped, Zach turning towards me.
"I'm sorry for asking, you two do what you do then." He responded simply, keeping his eyes fixated on me.
"So babe. How's your day?" He asked, a bit of irritation clearly shown in his voice.
"Are you okay Zach, we can always find a way to leave." I whispered, trying to keep him calm.
"I'm totally fine babe. I'm having SO much fun." He smiled, clearly lying.
Stephanie scoffed, focusing her conversation away from Nico to intervene on mine.
"SO much fun." She echoed, Zach's face turning red. Nico and I decided to stay quiet, not trying to get into their upcoming argument.
"I'm sorry, do you have a problem with me?" Zach asked, his voice trying not to show anger. I wanted to say something, because Steph has no right to act hostile for no reason.
"I actually have a lot of issues with you. Don't act like you don't know what the problem is." Her voice started raising, Nico's eyes looking at Zach saddened. There is clearly something between them three that I don't know about, which is most likely causing this unnecessary tension.
"Steph please, just enjoy the night. Let's not start this now." My boyfriend responded, taking a sip of the water placed on his table. Steph's face reddened, worse than Zach's. They were both going to blow, you could just tell.
"Let's not talk about it tonight." She repeated, glaring at him.
"Knew I never should of went on this dumb date. I don't like to be around uncaring assholes who cut themself to feel better." She shouted.
The whole restaurant went silent. In that moment, both Zachary and Nico got up, neither responding. I was in shock at what just happened, wondering how Steph could say such a thing about my boyfriend. It made me angry, but I did not want to show it.
"I'm sorry babe, but I can't deal with his right now."
Zachary soon then kissed my cheek, before grabbing the liquor off of another person's table, swallowing it in one shot. Nico followed him soon after out the door, trying to calm the very angry boy. Once they left, you could hear loud slams on the window before the restaurant started whispering.
There it was. Stephanie and I sitting the table alone. I was pissed off. Very pissed.
"What the hell is your problem with him? You urge me to be happy, yet you go and ruin the day of someone who MAKES me happy!" I shouted, her face not changing.
"You're dating the wrong person Audrey! He's not the type of guy you should be into! Why the hell can't you see that?!" Steph yelled back. I'm not going to back down from her this time. I'm going to stand up for my boyfriend.
"If you did not want to come you didn't have to. I would of rather had you not be here than to of came just to ruin the night we tried to have. You need to stop constantly trying to ruin everything. I don't understand why you ALWAYS DO THE SAME SHIT OVER AND OVER!" My voice raised.
"You're right, I should not of came. That was my second mistake. My first, was ever becoming your friend. My first mistake was ever letting some depressed chick get into my life. You were never my best friend. You were never a friend at all." She said, her voice going quiet before she walked out of the restaurant, me all alone.
-
When I finally got home, I was quickly stopped by my mother.
"Hey sweetheart are you okay?" She said, her voice concerned. I pushed past her, not trying to show her my reddened face.
"I'm fine." I said before quickly going into my room, locking it shut. Now that I was alone, all of the feelings I built up, began to stream out of my eyes. I burst out crying, upset about this whole day. My whole life. It only seemed that the more I cried though. The more it didn't feel enough. I needed pain. I needed to cut. I went into my bathroom, grabbing the blade I always hid and began to slice my wrists. As I slit my wrist more and more, it didn't feel enough. I began to press harder on my wrist.
And harder.
And harder.
Eventually, a sharp pain ran through one of my cuts. It started to bleed horribly. I tried to stop it, covering it up with a towel but it only bled heavier and heavier. My head began to feel lighter, and before I knew it.... Everything went black.
