I could not help but to be more than thrilled today, walking into school as the proud girlfriend of Zachary Anderson . I mean, a lot of people probably don't know him or me. But that's not the point. My best friend, Stephanie soon after came in to meet me before class started, her face growing wide to see me happy.
"OMGEEEEE WHO ARE YOU DATING?" She screamed, causing a few heads to turn towards us before walking away.
"How did you know I was dating someone?" I responded, smiling.
"Because. That's the face every girl makes when she was just kissed and asked to take the title of being a girlfriend! Come on, let's be real I'm the queen of knowing everything. NOW SPILL IT!" She responded, looking at me with excitement.
"Well fine you're right... There is this boy..."
"Yeah..."
"I met him in therapy." I went on.
"Yeah...." She slurred her words.
"He went to my house yesterday and we ended up kissing. Now you know the rest. We are dating." I finished, her eyes lighting up. You could tell me getting a boyfriend made her happier than it did me. I think she thought that because I have someone to call my own that now it would fill the emptiness in my life and make me suddenly feel better. I did not really agree with her thinking but you know. We are friends for a reason. Just not that reason.
"When will I meet him-" She started to say before her eyes shifted to my left, causing me to slightly frown.
"What?" I asked, a hand wrapping around my waist followed by a soft kiss on my cheek.
"Heeeeeeeeeeeeeeeey" Zachary said, his deep voice sending tingly feelings throughout my body. I turned around to see him, a wide smile on his face. I hugged the boy, trying not to be disturbed he was able to find me.
"That's your boyfriend?" She said, breaking us up and extending her hand.
"Hi my name is Stephanie, and I am Audrey's best friend.. You hurt her feelings and your dick will be chopped off." She threatened, Zach's face crinkling.
"Well that's nice to knowwwww. Hi Stephanie, its nice to see you again." He responded, grabbing her hand to shake it.
Again?
"Are you high?" She asked, his face turning into a frown."
"Not currently, why?" He shot back, Stephanie's face ready to get at him. I quickly took his hand, pulling him away. "Bye Steph, see you in 3rd period." I then continued to pull him away, so we could go to my locker. He seemed happy as I dragged him across the halls, not a single complaint coming from his mouth.
"I don't think she really likes me." Zach said, his pouty face making me want to hug him.
"It's not that, really. She's just the type of person that does not just let anyone into our friend group." I responded, opening my locker.
"Why did she want to know whether or not I was intoxicated though... I mean the one day i'm actually clean everyone thinks I'm on the coco."
I opened my locker, throwing my coat in there before telling him we need to talk about his drinking habits and closing my locker.
"Hey." Zachary groaned, trying to get my attention. I ignored him, walking to the direction of my class, his loud footsteps following.
"Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Hey. Heyyyyyyyyy." He continued going, before I finally turned around.
"What?" I asked, locking eyes with my boyfriend.
"Kiss me please." He asked, puckering his lips.
" Say my name." I responded, his lips still puckered.
"Why?"
"Because I like the way my name sounds when you say it." I added, getting real close to him.
"Say my name." I said again.
"Audrey. Kiss me please." His deep voice begged, a smile forcing my face. I then stood on my tippy toes, and kissed the boy sweetly.

"So how was the first two periods without me??????" Stephanie questioned, as we walked into 3rd period French. I took a moment to answer that, knowing that if I said my time without her was great, she'd get mad, but if I said it sucked, she wouldn't believe me. Stephanie always sets me up to fail, with questions you'd never be able to win with. Instead, I just responded with "It was okay" as I took my seat next to her, looking around quietly. Of course like always, our teacher was not here, so we waited 5 minutes after the bell before she finally came.
"Bonjour!" My french teacher screamed in excitement, everyone groaning quietly. It is only 3rd period, nobody is ever ready for the loudness she brings every single morning. My teacher sat down, staring at us with wide eyes before speaking again.
I hate happy people.
"Okay class, grab a partner, we are going to do a small project. You are each going to get a big poster, write 20-30 facts about Paris on it, and then in two days present. The best voted on poster will receive a bon bon. Good look, and get started."
After she announced that, everyone darted up, grabbing a partner. I sat there quietly, waiting for the riot to calm down before turning my eyes to the side, expecting to see Stephanie. Instead of seeing her though, I found her across the classroom, chatting quietly with a classmate. They then turned to grab a large sheet of paper, indicating that I guess we were not going to be partners. Maybe she was mad at me and wanted to make a statement. I mean, the normal thing to do would be to go up to her and question why she was so quick to leave me, we ARE best friends, but instead, I kept silent, ready to let that bother me later.
"Audrey, do you have a partner?" My teacher interrupted my thoughts.
"Nope. Guess not."
"Oh, okay, work with Nico then." She said, pointing to the boy. The boy who I suppose was Nico smiled at me, his big hazel eyes lighting up when he came closer. He had a little bit of facial hair, and reeked of cologne the closer he came. He also kind of had this feminine touch to his personality, giving me the impression he was either gay or really girly. Not that there was anything wrong with being gay. When he finally reached me, his smile vanished and he made a funny face, almost the face Zachary makes.
"Helloo, I'm Nico and i'm cute." The boy announced proudly, causing me to make a sour face.
Some way to start a conversation.
"Helloo, I'm Audrey, and I like Mac and Cheese." I announced, his smile returning. He went to grab a big poster board, writing our names on the back before choosing a spot to sit, me following close behind. We started talking, making everything seem so comfortable. The more we talked though, the more he sounded like Zachary. That thought made me laugh.
"What?" He said, turning up to make the same funny face he did before.
"You just remind me of-"
"Zachary?" He cut me off, raising an eyebrow to see if his guess was right.
"Yeah, Zachary, how do you know him?"
"You are his girlfriend." He chuckled, taking on the same smile that's always plastered on Zachary's face.
"Wow I did not know that!"
"We are best friends.. Everyone who knows us says we have very similar personalities. The only thing really different about us is that when I get sad I make funny faces and cry about it to everyone. When he gets sad though... Psh. Let's not talk about that. Just make sure to always see him, and take good care of him. He's not like every boy in this world." He said, drawing lines on the poster.
"He's worse." Nico added, cracking up.
"I will." I responded quietly, thinking about the last thing he said to me.
Just make sure to always see him, and take good care of him. He's not like every boy in this world.
He's not like every boy in this world.
Maybe that's what is going to scare me.
