"He's calling your fight? That's awesome! Wow! You better start getting ready and go save your guys from the town!" "Okay!" "Good luck sweetheart!" "Thank you!" "You're welcome!" I ran back to the guys and grabbed their hands. "Come on!" I said tugging. Nate tightened his grip on my hand a little and started pulling Nick, Mike and Ace with us. "Where to?" "Back room!" I yelled still pulling them away from the nasty girls of Greenwood. Every part of them that should be left alone had probably been touched by now and They were being hung on and groped.
I tugged one more time then closed the door behind them unaware of the problem that would cause. "Hello dear." I heard from the corner of the room. My head snapped toward his voice. My father sat in my chair with a dangerous grin. "What are you doing here Raymond?" Ace asked with threat in his tone. "I just came to see my daughter's last day of her life. I wanted to watch the light leave her eyes. " He pulled a gun out and pointed it in my direction. I hated that Nick and Nate and Mike had to see this. Ace has seen it before but never with a gun involved. I stepped in front of all of them so the shot wouldn't hit anyone but me. My breathing was off but I held steady eye contact as I slowly walked toward him blocking him from view as he stood up and took a marksman stance with the gun trained on my chest. My hands were shaking slightly for fear that he might actually shoot. I was about a foot from the gun when Nate quickly stepped around me and put himself between me and the barrel. "No!" I screamed and tried to pull him back behind me. Nick and Ace tackled us both to where we were out of the way then Mike disarmed my father. He then relieved the gun of it's bullets and walked out of the room with it.
Nick and Ace started to get up and Nate rolled off of me. I was still shaking and my breathing was off. "What's wrong dear? Are you afraid? Do I scare you dear?" I glared at him and stood up then crossed the room and punched him in the jaw. He kicked my stomach hard. I punched him again. He fell limp and hit the ground. His eyes were still fluttering and I leaned over him "Don't. Ever. Come near me again." I hit him again and his eyes went cold. I turned to see five faces of worry and I held up a shaky hand. "Let's just drop it, okay? It's not the first time. I'm fine. As long as Colby isn't taking cheap shots tonight. I'm already bruised so he should have a good enough heart not to." Ace walked over and looked closely at my jaw. He lifted my head with his finger under my chin and Nate crossed the room to see what the big deal was about.
"Your jaw has faded, it's almost gone now. You still have a black eye but it's not swollen anymore. You heal really fast." I nodded and looked at him evenly. "I always have. Doctors say it's bad." I could see worry in his eyes and I hugged him. "Don't worry about me. I'll be fine. It doesn't hurt. Colby is no real match.. he just knows everything because I used to trust him. He's Ace's cousin. He makes comments then takes cheap shots. He just isn't very considerate of others and their feelings." I finished and tried to steady my shaking hands. "I'm ready to warm up now. I'm gonna need my honey." Ace nodded and went to my bag. He handed me a small Styrofoam coffee cup and my bottle of Tennessee Honey whiskey. Nate looked at me confused. "You're going to fight with that in your system?" I nodded then poured the equivalent to two shots in the cup. I downed it and handed the bottle off to whoever took it. Nate looked worried. "What?" "That was enough to show up in tests." "Kash won't run tests. He saw me anyways." Nick looked confused and Nate still looked worried. Out of the corner of my eye I saw my father move. I looked over at him and ignored his pained cries. He was pissed and he'd come after me if he regained his strength before I got into the ring.
After a short warm up I looked at the clock on the wall. I had one minute before the match would start being called. I pulled my hood up to shadow my face and looked at my father who was now moving more. I walked out to the sound of the starting music. Nate massaged my shoulders as we walked toward the ring. I climbed up and pulled the door open to enter the ring. My stomach hurt when I moved but I didn't want anyone to know that. When we touched gloves Colby glanced to the side. My father was walking past the octagon toward the door. "I'm sorry about everything." I stared at him confused. We went to our separate corners and I took my hoodie off. A few people gasped and I looked down to see a giant black bruise across my stomach. Kash announced us all. "Fighting out of the blue corner, 5 time regional champion, Colby 'The Predator" Cardenas! Fighting out of the red corner, 9 time world champion, McKinley 'The Ripper' McCarty! And calling tonight's main event, Mike Kogan!"
