Everything happened last night keeps driving my head insane. Lauren’s ferocious look and the pain that shadows in her eyes keep flashing through my head. I had a feeling that’s something horrific will happen and that frightens me. Lauren right now has gone insane. I need to protect Julie.
Her unit smelled fabulous when I enter and Adele was crooning soulfully through the surround sound speakers about chasing pavements. I looked across the kitchen and saw Julie duck her head on the table with an open bottle of wine on the counter and two glasses, one of which is half filled with red wine.
“hey” I called out as I got closer. I saw her raised her head and force her lips a smile. From looking at her... something’s really wrong. I close the distance between us and kissed her lips softly.
“Good morning baby.” I whisper behind her ear.
“Good morning” she uttered still not looking into me.
“I suppose you had a prior visitor before me..” I asked her.
“oh yeah.. Mr. Chua dropped by.”
“Mr. Chua?” I asked reluctantly.
“ahm. He’s one of my clients” she looks so sad
“What’s wrong Julie?” she shook her head. Damn it. It freaks me out seeing her like this. I hate seeing her hurt and fragile. I kneel beside her and level my head to hers.
“Tell me Julie.. It scares me seeing you like this..” with a low moan she rested her head on the seat and closed her eyes. I shifted, cupping the back of her neck and pressing my lips to her forehead.
“You don’t feel hot.. Is your stomach upset?” She pressed her face into the crook of my neck and she hugs my nape. I breathed her in, absorbing the delicious scent of her skin.
“I didn’t make it Moe...” she whisper.
“Enlightened me baby..”
“Mr. Chua won’t invest to us Elmo..” she exclaimed. I pull her up and let her sit to my lap cradling her close.
“You’ll probably get another investor Julie” I hear her deep exhaled.
“You don’t get it Moe.. He’s the only way to save our business.” I pulled slightly.
“And why didn’t you tell me about this.. I should have..”
“No.. I don’t want any of your help Elmo..” she cut me off.
“But Julie I loved to help you.. Everything’s about you is my business” I whisper against her lips. The urge of kissing her right now.. so painful.
“I know that.. tsk...It bothers me Moe.. What really change his mind?... I mean yesterday when I talk to him he seems so electrify about it... but all of a sudden he’s backing out..” I stilled. After a heartbeat or two, I tilted my head to search her face.
“Everything will be all right baby.” I kissed her softly in the lips.
“Yeah I hope Elmo..” I give her my reassuring smile.
“come on.. We’re going somewhere.” She arched her brows but I pull her up.
“Go.. get a shower.. ” I pushed her towards her room. I saw her face surrender and she smile sweetly at me.
“Okay. I’m going..” I smile at her before she closed her door behind. I shoved a hand through my hair and exhaled harshly. I remembered Lauren at this very moment. I hope she’s not involved to this.. damn it.
