I woke up startled. I looked up from my side table to see that it was already 6:00 am. Shit. I jumped up from the bed and went to her room. I’m not surprised when I saw the sheets neatly folded. She’s gone.  The ground dropped out from beneath my feet. It’s like the room tilted. The silence of the room makes me sick. Damn it. I let out a deep breath I lost her again.

My eyes caught an orange planner on the side table. I smile as I saw her initials on top of it. I flip the cover to scan it and I saw the details that will help me find her. I chuckled as I read her complete address. You’re still lucky Elmo.  I moved my feet and walked out into the quite room when a sheet of paper fell from the planner and landed on my bare foot. I set my gaze down. No it’s not a sheet of paper. A picture. I wiped the sweat off my face with my hands and looked at the picture...a picture of a kid wearing red polo and a blue cap. Dark haired kiddo with perfectly etch nose, full lips, his lashes were enviably thick and long and he has a keen brown eyes... just like mine. I looked too much like him at that age. Staring through unblinking, watering eyes my whole body stiffened and I could feel my hand shake. I felt my eyes heat and tears started to fall.

Did I get her pregnant? God.. Is it possible? My mind spun as million of questions emerge.

I needed answers.

Pink was crooning soulfully through the surround sound speakers about try. I looked across the open floor plan into the kitchen and saw Maqui swaying to the music while stirring something on the range. There was an open bottle of wine on the counter and two goblets, one of which was half-filled with red wine.

“Hey,” I called out as I got closer.

“Whatcha cooking? do I have time for a shower first?” She poured wine into the other goblet and slid it across the breakfast bar to me.

“Pasta with meat sauce. And hold the shower, dinner’s ready.. Call baby Ellie..” I watched her dump the pasta into a waiting bowl.

“Pinakain ko na sya kanina..” I enjoyed another sip of my wine. It was a crisp and nicely chilled

“Ohw...nahanap mo ba yung planner mo?”

“No.. Tsk..San ko ba nilagay yun.. I  need to find that Macui..” I pulled out one of the teakwood barstools and sat.

“Ewan ko sayo Julie.. Disoriented ka ngayon..” I wrinkled my nose at her.

“Psh.. You’re not helping Macqui..” She set a bowl in front of me. It contained tiny tubes of salad noodles covered in a skimpy tomato sauce with lumps of ground beef and peas.

“Let’s eat first.. Mamaya mo na hanapin yon” I caught the handle of the spoon sticking out of the bowl and decided not to comment on the food. Macqui stayed on the other side of the counter, preferring to stand and eat. I watched her take a couple bites of her own concoction before I felt brave enough to try it myself.

“Pauwi na daw si Sam” she said dryly

“I thought sa Monday pa uwi nya.” The hand I was running through my loose hair stilled. I arched my brow as I took another bite. Really, the meal wasn’t bad. Or I was just starving.

“Aba ewan ko sa jowa mo.. Wait. Are you guys having a fight?” I shrugged

“Nagtatampo lang siguro.. Hindi na kasi ako nakatawag sa kanya kagabi.” I exhaled in a rush and sagged back into my chair

“Ohw kaya pala ako  yung tinext nya..Speaking san ka ba natulog kagabi..” . Macqui set his elbow on the counter and leaned in, her long bangs covering one vibrant dark brown eye. Looking down at my food, I refused to let my mind wander into memories that happen last night.. how my body reacts to his kisses and touch. If I didn’t have my self control last night I might end up to his arms again.
