So I realize Riley might seem kinda slutty cuz she only has one female friend and the rest are boys but let’s be honest. Sometimes boys are easier to get along with. Most of my friends are boys actually. When I think about it. But Jayden is the only one (this ain’t the Twilight Saga)

“I was hoping Jayden would come around eventually” Toby said. Riley could practically hear the huge grin on his face. She took another bite of her apple as she listened to Toby rant about how it was so obvious and he had been trying to convince Jayden to tell her for a while. She had kept her promise of calling and texting Toby every day and so far it was going well. She had even gotten to talk to his girlfriend a few times.

“I was hoping I’d come around” she said with a smile, checking her watch. Today would be her and Nick’s first day back at school since their Christmas vacation and also a mark. It had been three months since they had arrived in New York.

“We all were” he said and she could picture him rolling his eyes. Just then she heard a car horn from outside.

“That’s my ride. I’ll text you later” she said and said goodbye to him before hanging up and stuffing her phone in her pocket and headed out the door. She smiled when she saw Ghost and Remy in the car but sadly there was no sign of Jayden which was a good thing and a bad thing for her considering she hadn’t seen or spoken to him since they admitted their feelings for each other.

“Morning” she said, with a huge grin on her face.

“Jayden went to school early today because he had to finish some homework and Nick joined him” Ghost explained and Remy nodded as if to confirm the story.

“Okay…” she said, trailing off.

“I knew you were wondering where he was” Ghost said with a shrug making her blush. “Aww I was right.”

“Shut up and drive” she muttered, taking another apple out of her bag to eat.

“I hate that song” Ghost commented, making her throw her apple at his head. He groaned in pain and turned to glare at her. “That hurt.”

“Exactly” she said, smirking at him. She had changed so much. She wouldn’t have dared done that to Ghost a few months ago. She was terrified of all three of them: Ghost, Jayden and Remy and now she and Jayden liked each other and Ghost and Remy were like brothers to her. She wouldn’t have dared to go on a road trip with them a few months ago and that’s what she did last week.

“We’re here” Ghost said, still rubbing the back of his head. Riley hopped out of the car and walked towards the school, she felt excited that she was finally going to see Jayden. She looked around the halls but he wasn’t anywhere in sigh. Shrugging, she headed to her locker; maybe she’d see him later.

“Riley” she heard a gruff male voice from behind her that she knew all too well. She turned around to face Donovan who was holding a huge bar of chocolate in his hands. She resisted the urge to grab the bar from his hands and eat it.

“What’s up?” she asked, slamming her locker door shut and leaning against it.

“I wanted to apologize for everything properly and I wanted to start over. Are you free tonight?” he asked, holding out the bar of chocolate for her.

“Um. Yeah?” she said, but it sounded more like a question.

“Do you have a boyfriend?” he asked, cupping her cheek. She tried not to slap his hand away since that would be rude. She didn’t technically have a boyfriend but in her mind, she was taken. She didn’t want to spread that she ‘had a boyfriend’ with all the technicalities in the way but she didn’t want to say she was single either so she simply shrugged. “Good. Meet me at the cinema okay?”
