Writing this chapter gave me feels. Is that vain? Idk.

Sorry if its short

So I believe this is chapter 20 which means five chapters left…I think. It depends.

Read on.

Riley sat on the bench in the temporary cell, staring at the hard, concrete floor. No one had said a word so far. They all seemed to be lost in their own thought. Ghost and Jayden were sitting next to each other on the floor and Emily was sitting next to her but she had fallen asleep, or at least her eyes were closed.

“Can I talk to you for a second?” Jayden asked Riley, taking a seat next to her. She turned to look at him and nodded in consent. “Why were you at the cinema with Donovan?” he asked, his body tensing when he said Donovan’s name.

“He wanted to make it up to me and I thought we were going as friends. I didn’t want to go alone with him so I invited Ghost and Emily” she explained, her voice shaky. She didn’t like the fact that the officer at the desk seemed to be listening to their conversation.

“Riley” Jayden sighed. “I know this is going to sound bad but you should have gone to me or even Ghost or Remy before saying yes.”

She sighed, knowing he was right, even though he made her sound like a little girl. Even if she and Jayden weren’t official it would have made sense to run this by him.

“I’m sorry Jayden” she said, feeling tears in her eyes but she quickly blinked them back. He scooted closer to her making her heart skip a beat and wrapped an arm around her shoulder.

“It’s okay Riley” he whispered.

“Donovan was my first date, it was a disaster since that’s when he first started hitting me and I felt obliged to go to all our dates because once I said I was busy and he pushed me into a wall. I think I still have that reflex” she explained, she knew he deserved the full explanation as to why she accepted the date with Donovan.

“You know what? That won’t happen anymore. You’re going to have a proper first date” he said suddenly. He got up and caught the attention of the guard who was pretending to do paper work but Riley knew he was still listening to the conversation. She got up and walked up to Jayden who was leaning against the metal bars. “Hey! We’re hungry” Jayden told the guard. He rolled his eyes and put his pen down.

“The cook left already, I’m going to have to order something I guess” the officer said in a grumpy voice. “Don’t expect anything too fancy kid.”

“Don’t you need to eat too?” Jayden asked, smirking at him.

“I can order something fancy for myself if I want” the officer retorted.

“That’s a waste of money” Jayden said. Riley chuckled when she caught on to what Jayden was doing. “Oh and can you bring a radio in here? I’m kind of bored.”

“Whatever” the officer said, waving a dismissive hand at Jayden, who was busy taking the two chairs in the cell and making them face each other and he put a table in between the two chairs. Riley blushed when he gestured for her to sit down on one of the chairs. By this point, Ghost had fallen asleep which she was grateful for because he would have been teasing her so much if he was awake.

“So this is a weird first date but…I will make it work if you will” Jayden said, taking a seat across from her

“It’s my first date in a holding cell, I’ll give you that” she said, making him chuckle. Just then the officer came back and handed them two paper bags with the MacDonald’s logo to the side.
