Maddie's POV

"Okay, I know you're going to feel a bit overwhelmed, but just take a deep breath and you'll be fine," Karen told me and I nodded, bracing myself as two TG's opened the door at the back of the auditorium and we stepped out.

"Trumpist Udana! How are you feeling about your recent success? Anyone you would like to thank?" Dozens of reporters shoved mics in my face the minute I left the auditorium.

Before I could open my mouth to respond, I heard a giggle from beside me.

"Oh, don't bother," a blonde girl in a fashionable black skater skirt who looked about my age waved her hand. "When you're a Trumpist, TV people practically stalk you. Just ignore them."

"Wait, are you..." my eyes widened with recognition.

"Yep, Leah Summers," she put her hand on her hip. "The Head Trumpist's little sister."

"Is something wrong?" She added, after she saw my shocked expression.

"No, it's just that I never thought I'd meet someone as famous as you," I laughed.

"Oh, you'll meet a lot of really famous people in Trump City," Leah smiled. "You'll definitely meet Leona at the Welcoming Ceremony, and you might even get to meet President Trump!"

Yeah, I'm TOTALLY looking forward to THAT.

"That's pretty cool! You live in Trump City, right? What brings you to Texas?" I asked as a maroon Lexus pulled up in front of the school and we got in.

"Oh, my sister's been talking about you ever since you were selected to be the Fairview Trumpist, a couple of months ago," Leah laughed. "I swear, she's obsessed! It's always, 'Oh, I can't wait until Madeline Udana's Trumping Day!' and 'Madeline Udana's so smart, she's going to make such an awesome Trumpist!' I wanted to see the girl who got Leona in such a frenzy."

"The Head Trumpist knows who I am?" My jaw dropped. I was no longer the invisible little girl from the invisible little town. Leona Summers, the third most powerful person in the country, was watching me!"

"Oh, she knows who you are alright," Leah rolled her eyes.

My eyes turned to my purse as my phone lit up with a notification. A text from...Piece of Lowly Scum???

"Cardex notices Maddie's confusion," my Cardex said. "Cardex helped Maddie understand that her former friends are now inferior to her by changing their contact names. From this moment on, Cardex will not be fully functional. Cardex will be removed when Maddie arrives at Trump City. Cardex is sad to see Maddie go, but happy that she will have a brighter future."

"Well, Maddie sure ain't sad to see Cardex go," I roared, grinning at the thought that soon, I would be able to say absolutely whatever I want again.

"Who's texting you?" Leah asked as I replied to Rylee's message, making a mental note to change her contact name back as soon as my Cardex was gone.

"My friend Rylee."

"Really? You and your friend got into the Trumpist Circle? You're so lucky, they almost never pick two Trumpists from the same district!"

Picking Trumpists from districts...picking tributes from districts. Congratulations, Maddie, your life just turned into the Hunger Games!

"She isn't a Trumpist, she got Lowly."

"Why would you be texting a Lowly?" Leah scrunched up her nose in disgust.

"Um...because we're best friends."

"So? She's a Lowly! Being in contact with a Lowly is terrible for your reputation as a Trumpist! Forget she ever existed! You'll have plenty of new friends in Trump City, you already have one!" Leah threw up her hands.

Katniss Everdeen went on a train to the Capitol.

Maddie Udana went on a plane to Trump City.

Ugh, brain! Stop with the Hunger Games references!

"I guess so," I sighed, putting my phone away, but I wasn't buying it.

"So, when's the flight?" I asked when the Moderate driver pulled up in front of the airport.

"Let's see...in about twenty minutes," Leah said after checking the time on her fancy new iPhone 7.

"Wow, you guys have this planned perfectly," I laughed as we exited the car and walked into the airport.

"Well, of course we do," Leah said as she skipped up the stairs. "We're welcoming over two hundred new Trumpists into the Circle this year."

"Just two hundred? From the entire country? But there's way more school districts than that!"

"I'm technically not supposed to be telling people this, but not every school district gets a Trumpist," Leah whispered.

"Really?" I raised an eyebrow.

"Yeah, we only want the best in our Circle."

"Okay..."

If a teenage Trumpist was like this, I could only imagine the arrogance of the adults...

"Look, it's the Crew!"

I looked over to see Penny, Jasmine, Ria, and Giselle, AKA the Crew, who, along with Leah Summers, starred in my favorite reality TV show, "Young Trumpists: The Rich and the Famous."

They were surrounded by a group of TG's to keep the fans away, and excitedly waved when they saw us approaching the gate.

"Hey Leah!" Penny smiled. "And you must be the new Trumpist, Madeline!"

"I prefer Maddie," I beamed, shaking her hand.

I just shook hands with Penelope Blaze.

"I can't believe all of you guys are here to send me off," I beamed.

"We heard you were a fan," Jasmine shrugged. "Every new Trumpist scoring in the top 5%  gets to fly to Trump City with their favorite celebrity. It's sort of like a tradition."

"Oh, cool!"

After talking to Leah and the Crew about Young Trumpists for a while, it was time to board the flight. Despite the wonderful atmosphere in the luxurious plane, I couldn't help but feel a little ominous dread in the pit of my stomach as I watched Fairview shrink to the size of a Lego city underneath me.

Goodbye, Maddie. Hello, Trumpist Udana.

A/N: Dystopian societies are fun to read about, but not so fun to live in ;)
