Gracie- The Halloween Party

Chapter 5

The trial was about to begin. There was no sign of any of the girls i begged and i begged for them to forgive me and show up to defend me. I'm not sure that i have any chance without them. The trial was starting, I couldn't listen because i was worried about them not showing up. Suddenly Braylon, makenna and Calleigh walked through the door. Maddi was nowhere to be seen. I kept my attention to the front as my lawyer called Makenna to the stand. She looked nervous like she was going to start lying. "I didn't see Gracie at all that night i was at the party but i left in a crowd before the incident." That lying bitch. I thought to myself. Up next was Braylon. She answered every question with yes no or i don't remember. At least she didn't lie. " were you with Brooke that night?" The lawyer asked Braylon. She replied truthfully. She then decided to say more. "Brooke talked me, Makenna, Calleigh and Maddi, into playing a trick on Gracie. We were supposed to pretend to be dead or something. It was a halloween prank and Brooke dressed up like the killer." She started to shake and couldn't finish. She was free to sit back in the crowd just as Maddi decided to walk in. The jury took hours to decide if i was guilty or not. They were debating whether it was self defense or just psychotic killing. "The jury has come to a decision, Gracie Carter is... Not guilty on the grounds of self defense." I started to cry. I was finally free and Brooke was a bitch that sometimes, I thought deserved to die, but not this way. I finally went home the next day and i saw everyone except for Makenna. The rest of the girls were angry that she didn't stick up for me because they all knew it was Brooke's fault but, somehow it was like Makenna was still scared of Brooke even though she was dead. That night we all decided to get rid of the things we had that belonged to Brooke, it felt so good. Brooke was bossing us around and threatening us for years and we're finally free. I know, it sounds bad especially because i killed her but I don't know i just feel- safer i guess. The next day, i saw Brooke's mom in the store. She looked at me as if she wasn't even upset. She walked away after she looked me straight in the eyes. I suddenly got a text, it read- there's something weird about Brooke's mom. Get to my house asap- Braylon. I got in my car and floored it to her house. "Ok i think Brooke's mom knew something because she is just getting rid of all of Brooke's things that weren't expensive and she is burning the rest." Makenna pointed out. Brooke's mom was a nice person i knew her since i was 3. But somehow, when i saw her I didn't feel like i knew her, she looked different- skinnier, in fact, she was wearing one of Brooke's shirts come to think of it. She was also in forever 21 which is not a mom store. "There is definitely something up." I explained the whole thing to them and they agreed. That night, i saw a cop, he told me that he knew it wasn't self defense because technically, they didn't do anything to me before i killed her. He was intimidating, tall and muscular i thought he was gonna punch me to be honest but then, he kissed me. i looked at him in fear. "I have a boyfr-" he looked me in the eyes and told me that if i didn't want my boyfriend to know, that i have to admit it wasn't self defense and take the time. I ran to my boyfriend's house it was only a couple blocks away. I told him everything while i was standing in his doorway and he said, " no matter what that creep says or does, i will never let you go back to jail, and i will never stop loving you." He grabbed me by the waist and pulled me in for a kiss. I felt my legs go numb. Then i heard a gunshot behind me.
