Narrator: Helena

It seems to me that time passes slowly, but fast at the same time.
I got home today from the hospital. I now had a job as a nurse. I was looking for my keys to open the door, but someone opened it.
"Oh hey Helena! Welcome home" Timmy gave me a hug, he had a beer in his hand.
"Drinking? On Monday? You weirdos!" I smiled at him. They've been in our house so often for the last two weeks. I feel like they should start helping us pay the bills.
I went into the house to find it full of people, well the same people as always. Alaska and Seattle were sitting on the couch playing cards.
"I hope you guys are not doing strip poker!" I told them giving them a hug.
"No, we're just going to kiss right now" Alaska laughed and started getting close to Seattle.
"Nope, I don't want to see this" I turned around and saw Effie on the dinner table, drinking vodka.
"I hate beer" she told Timmy wrinkling her nose.
"What are we celebrating?" I asked them.
"Well, I'm celebrating that I didn't have to work today," Effie said making an effort to sound sober, "and my best friend Timmy is celebrating that he punched his brother in the morning," she got all serious, "SHAMEY SHAME TIMMY!" she punched his arm and they started laughing.
I walked to the kitchen, Jimmy was sitting on the counter, Alice and Ronnie were talking to him.
"What the heck happened?" I asked Jimmy, he was my best friend. What did he do to make Timmy punch him?
"Oh hi Helena! I'm doing fine, thank you. How was your day?" I could hear the anger in his voice.
I walked to him and gave him a hug.
"What happened?" I questioned him not letting go of the hug.
"I was talking about mom" he whispered. I got up on the counter next to him and he put his head on my shoulder.
The day he talked to me about his mom was the day we became besties. He told me his mom had killed herself when he was ten years old. And when he was thirteen, all he could think about was suicide. He was better now, and he needed to talk about it once in a while, and apparently Timmy couldn't take it.
"It's okay"
Alice and Ronnie walked out of the kitchen.
"Why are you here?" I asked him.
"I didn't want to be home"
"But he is here too" I looked towards the dining room.
"We don't hate each other Helena, he just wanted to punch someone and I happened to be close," his voice passed from angry to incredibly sad, "but I'm fine, go enjoy some time with your friends."
"I'll be back" I got down the counter and walked to the table. I sat down, Timmy and Effie staring at me.
"You know you love your brother Timmy. Go make things right," Effie turned around to face him, "here, I'll go with you" she stood up and so did he, and they left.
I went to the living room and sat down next to Alice and Ronnie.
"So, how do you like our family" I asked him, no expression on my face.
"You guys are really nice" he nodded without making eye contact.
"Are you hiding something?" I raised my eyebrows and sat straight, looking at him.
"No, no. I have nothing to hide. But Alice and I are kind of dating now, and well my reputation is not that good. But I really want to make this right." He looked at her with a smile on his face and a sparkle in his eyes.
"Well, in this house the only reputation that counts is the one you make from now on," I sounded like my mom, "that doesn't mean I won't be watching you" I said making sure he knew that Alice had plenty of people looking out for her.
"So mom, are you okay with us dating?" Alice said sarcasticly.
"Fine" I laughed and he gave her a small kiss.
The door opened, Emma and Roger came in holding hands. "Okay, we have tons of couples in this house! You can't go to the rooms!" I yelled. I turned around, Alaska and Seattle were nowhere to be seen. I ran upstairs and heard them laughing inside her room. Shit! We don't want babies in this house. I thought and I opened the door without knocking. I sighed in relief when I saw them playing Wii and not naked.
I went back downstairs and saw Timmy and Jimmy hugging one another. Effie and I smiled at each other because we knew we got them to talk to each other again.
I felt happy with myself. Taking care of all my friends and working at the hospital. Everything seemed to go fine.
I poured myself a glass of whiskey and went outside. I sat down inside of my car. I saw Jimmy coming out of the house too.
"Come in here brother" I opened the door so he could see me.
He got in the car and smiled at me.
"Are you feeling better?" I asked him, I was sure my voice sounded weird and I was starting to get dizzy. I didn't know how many cups of whiskey I drank.
"Yeah, I told you he was just stressed" he was looking straight ahead to the house, he tilted his head and had a confused look on his face. I turned around to see what he was looking at.
Timmy and Effie came out of the house and moved to the side where the door to the backyard was. They were talking and they started getting closer, and closer. And then they kissed. Jimmy gasped and I felt like my eyes were going out of their sockets.
"I'll never kiss anyone again" I remembered Effie's words.
