Let's Pretend

"You're not supposed to be wandering around the hospital Jimmy" I rolled my eyes and started walking.
"You do look nice in those scrubs," he said laughing, "anyway, she woke up"
As soon as Jimmy told me the good news I ran to her room.
"I could hear everything you guys were saying, you idiots" Alice laughed weakly. Ronnie was holding her hand close to his face.
"You scared me to death!" He kissed her hand.
"You gave me so much trouble" Mark said coming inside the room. There was something about him in that moment that made him look way more attractive and I couldn't hide my stupid smile.
"Thanks for saving me like a thousand times Mark" she smiled at him. He nodded.
"Effie, Brandon has been asking for you" Mark told her.
"Who's Brandon?" Timmy asked confused.
"Well, everyone around here seems to have new boyfriends so, yeah" Jimmy said looking at me and at Mark.
"Okay, I'm going to go check on Atticus" I said getting out of the room. I needed to breathe. Why was there always so much drama around Jimmy and I?
I passed by Atticus' room. He was asleep, so I didn't go in. I passed by Brandon's room, Effie was in there, they were laughing at something on Effie's phone.
I felt so exhausted, I went inside an on-call room and laid down on the bed. I fell asleep for about an hour. When I woke up, Mark was sitting down on the couch in front of the bed looking at me.
"You're a creep Sloan!" I rubbed my eyes and sat down by him.
"You look terrible" he laughed and started fixing my hair.
"I'm not even on call anymore, I should go home, but I don't know it feels weird" I leaned my head on his shoulder. And fell asleep again.
"Helena" I heard Mark whispering.
"What?" I stood up a little startled. I thought something had happened to Alice again.
"Alice has been asking for you" he told me.
"How long was I asleep?" I asked him confused. I looked at the window and it was dark outside.
"For about three hours" he chuckled.
"Shit, I'm sorry!"
"No problem, I fell asleep too"
"Well, I'll see you later Mark, you should go home!" I went straight to Alice's room. Everyone was still in there, except Ronnie.
"What happened?" I asked looking at her tears.
"Ronnie is gone." She said sobbing.
"Gone where? What happened?" I asked confused.
"He said he was going to the cafeteria, and I fell asleep and he still isn't back yet." she wiped the tears off her face.
I walked outside and Jimmy followed me.
"We have to look for him, what if something happened?" I told Jimmy. He just shook his head.
"We already looked for him, we called and he answered, he said he couldn't be with her anymore, that he was making things bad for her. He said to not call him anymore" he said sadly.
"That fucker!" I said angry. I started walking fast to the elevator.
"It's not worth it Lena, we should just go and be with Alice, she needs us," he grabbed my arm, "come on" we walked back to Alice's room.
The next day we all decided that we had to stop lying to Alice. Effie, the one that always deals with stuff, was the one that was going to tell her the truth. Emma got up on Alice's bed and hugged her.
"We were able to contact Ronnie. Now hear me out before you say anything. That nigga is an idiot, he always runs away from shit, and you know it. He said that he couldn't stand seeing you suffer because of him. So he ran away, and he's not coming back, and you're better off without him. So you tell him 'bye bye suckaaaaaa!' And you move on, understood?" Alice stopped crying. Emma hugged her tighter.
"Okay" Alice said weakly smiling at Effie.
"Good" Effie blew her a kiss.
I walked out of the room and sat down on the floor. I couldn't take any more. I was so tired, I just needed to go home and sleep for like a week. Jimmy came out and sat by me.
"Can you stop following me?" I asked annoyed.
"I came to give you an update on what's going on here. You were gone for like four hours or so. You missed a lot" he nodded.
"Fine, talk"
"Seattle and Alaska are moving in together. Roger and Emma made a deal, they will spend one week here and one week in Canada. Timmy and Effie are pretending to be boyfriend and girlfriend just until we go back. We just introduced Alice and Tyler formally." He scratched his head like trying to remember if there was more.
"Wow, that's a lot" my eyes were wide open.
"Yeah, that's basically it" he nodded.
"When are you leaving?" I asked him.
"In two and a half weeks" he smiled.
"Okay" I stood up and walked towards the on-call room. I opened the door and like I thought I would, I found Mark there.
"Can you release them today please?" I told him with a smile.
"What difference could a day make" he shrugged his shoulders and walked with me to sign off their charts.
"Now you girls need to take it easy, and you'll have weekly doctor visits, even though you live with a very good one" he winked at me.
"You two stop flirting" Effie laughed. Timmy elbowed her.
"Okay, we should all go home," I looked at them all, "go get your stuff ready"
I walked out with Mark.
"Thank you so much for everything Sloan. I really appreciate all that you do for us" I gave him a hug.
"Anytime Helena, go have some rest. Are you off tomorrow?"
"Yeah, I'll be asleep the whole day" I giggled. He smiled at me.
"You lucky, I'll be stuck here" he rolled his eyes.
"No complaining Mark, can you check on Atticus and Brandon tomorrow? I really don't want to come by"
"Sure honey" he smiled and gave me a kiss on the top of my head.
I went back to the room, everyone was ready to go home.
"Okay, let's go" Effie said with the keys to the van in her hand.
"I can take someone with me" Jimmy said looking at me.
"Not me" I turned around and walked towards Effie.
"Yeah Helena, why don't you go with him?" Effie laughed. I rolled my eyes and walked towards Jimmy.
We got on the car and he started driving. Silently again.
"I want to ask you something" he said not looking at me.
"What?"
"You know that thing Effie and Timmy are doing?" he smiled a little.
"The pretend couple thing?" I asked laughing.
"Yeah that. Do you want to be my pretend girlfriend for these two weeks?" he looked at me and smiled.
"No"
