A Secret for a secret for a life

Meriah POV

I woke up to the sun beaming down on my face. It must be morning I looked to my side and I saw Yuki fast asleep in the chair beside me. I smiled, I still felt warm but I guess that's because of the sun.

"Y-Yuki" My throat was scratchy because it was dry. "Y-Yuki wake u-up" My voice was cracking a lot, while I was trying to wake him up.

I lean over the side of the bed and shook his leg

"Mmm" he mumble waking up. We looked at each other for a second then he finally spoke "Welcome to your new home Miss. Valentine."

"W-what" I was a little confused on what that meant

"Oh your voice is cracking here you go Miss. Valentine." He said giving me and glass of water.

I took a sip of it "Thank you."

"Your welcome."

"Yuki what did you mean by your new home?" I asked him

"Well I talked to Shigure and I told him about that you didn't have a place to stay."

"Y-you didn't tell him about..." I traced off

"No I did, I would never."

I sighed I relive "Thank you Yuki"

"Your welcome" He said with a smile

There was a small knock at the door and Shigure came in with a taller man and he look familiar. Wait was that who I think it is. It is.

"Good morning Meriah" Shigure said as both of them walked in "Meriah this is....."

"Hatori it's been a while since I saw you" I told him

"It as Meriah" Hatori said.

Both Yuki and Shigure were shocked. "Meriah h-how do you know Hatori?" Shigure asked

"Uh um..." Well I can't just say that I knew him because I was a mermaid.

"Family friend that's all Shigure" Hatori said looking at me

"Oh alright" He said

"If you excuse me and Meriah" Hatori said

"Come one Yuki let's leave them" Yuki got up and walked out of the room with Shigure shutting the door.

"Why aren't you in the ocean Meriah? With your parents?" Hatori asked me while getting his thermometer out of his doctor bag.

"I swam away." I told him straight

"Don't you think that they're going to worry? You know how your family is, especially your father."

"Well my father can go suck a clam."

"Meriah"

"What its true Mr. Seahorse."

"You know that I'm not a seahorse, I'm supposed to be a dragon. Now open your mouth so I can check you temperature."

"Well you're not." I opened my mouth and he put the thermometer in my mouth.

He took my wrist and looked at the clock and then put my wrist down. Bringing his hand with, he felt my forehead, a chill when down my back "Your heads are freezing. Were you playing with ice?" I mumbled through the thermometer in my mouth, He took it out and looked at it

"No you're just burning up that's all... Meriah how long have you been out of the water?"

"Um probably a month. Why?" I asked

"I think that you should go back." He told

"What no, Hell no...I'm not going back. Do you know what my father would do to me? Hatori no."

"Meriah you need the water, it's the reason why you have a fever."

"But if you say that I can find water that isn't in the ocean and swim I'll get better."

"I don't know but we can try, but we need to get you into the water soon. I'm sorry Meriah but we need to the Shigure."

"No Hatori. He can't know" Looking down "Y-Yuki already knows. He found out last night but please don't make me tell the others."

"We have to Meriah. Shigure can help us more if we do, we can get you to water sooner I promise that I'll tell you a secret in return alright" He said

"O-ok, but might as well tell everyone that lives here"

"Are you sure?" I gave him a nod "Alright I'll be right back with them"

Yuki POV

"How is she Hatori?" Shigure asked

"She wants everyone to go up, even you Tohru. But before we go up, I promised her something that involves the family, and before you ask it's to help her." He explained

"What do you mean?" Kyo asked

"We have to tell her about the curse and the reason because she already know about me, she has a secret to tell you and we need to help her by telling ours." He said

She knows about Hatori, does that mean he knows about hers. I asked to myself

"A secret for a secret for a life" He said

"F-for a life. Hatori what does that mean" I asked

"Let's just go up and she can explain, I don't have a say in telling you."

We all nod and headed up to Meriah's room, once we were all in there, I looked at Meriah. She looked scared and nervous, but I guess I'd be nervous if I had to tell them to.

She was looking down "Meriah, Hatori says you have something to tell us" Shigure said with a loving kind tone.

She nodded "I wanted to tell you a secret that I need everyone to keep silent. I need everyone to promise me" Everyone in the room said that they would even me so I didn't get suspected on anything. "O-ok well I know it's hard to believe but I-I'm a-a mermaid" She said

Meriah POV

"I-I'm a mermaid" I said still looking down

"Really" I heard Tohru say. I nodded

"Yes she is and as I said downstairs she knows about me, but she doesn't know about the family." Hatori said and I looked up.

Shigure sat beside me "Meriah the Sohma family there's a curse, each one of us turn in to the different Chinese zodiac. I'm the dog." Shigure said

"I'm the rat" I looked at Yuki

"And I'm the cat. Who isn't really get to be a part of the damn family" I heard Kyo say, I looked at him then back at Shigure.

"How does it work?" I asked

"Well when our body is under a great amount of stress or we are hugged by the opposite sex we transform"

"Why are we even tell her anyway Hatori?" Kyo said sitting on the window ledge.

"Because the reason why she has a high fever is because she hasn't been in the water in a month and she has to swim for she might now live much longer." He said

"So we need to find her a place to smile and her body to cold off and few away from people." Yuki said

"I got it. I know the place" Tohru said
