I ran up the stairs and my mom met me at the top.

Carol- what the hell is this?!

In her hand was a piece of tissue that held the pregnancy test that I had taken last week. My eyes widened and my heart rate sped up. I had no idea how I was going to get out of this one.

Carol- if you don't start talking right now. Why was this in your trash can?

Nicki- I don't know! Why were you going through my trash can anyways.

Carol- shut up, I was taking it out like I always do and I saw it. Don't make me hurt you girl. Why is it is your trash can?

Nicki- its not mines,it's a friends

Carol- don't lie to me, you haven't had any friends over in I don't know how long. Are you having sex?

Nicki- NO!

Carol- then why are you taking pregnancy tests then?

Nicki- I told you it's not mines!

At this point I was so nervous that I started to cry. I could tell she wasn't buying my story and I had nothing else.

Carol- well it's not mines so who's is it?

Nicki- I told you it's a friends

Carol- which friend so I can call them and let them know that their 16 year old daughter is taking pregnancy tests.

I stayed silent. I didn't wanna lie and give her a name because I didn't wanna get anyone in trouble.

Carol- give me a name!

I just cried more.

Carol- exactly, you can't because your lying. Who are you having sex with Onika.

Nicki- nobody!

Carol- you have to be having sex to think your pregnant so tell me. Who is it?

I just shook my head no.

Carol- tell me right now!

Nicki- no

Carol- I knew something was going on with you. I bet all those times you were supposed to be at Carly's house you was somewhere laid up with some nappy head boy.

I didn't say anything. I had nothing to say.

Carol- you know what, I'm calling your dad so he can deal with this because I'm not.

Nicki- why?!

Carol- best think for you to do right now is get out of my face.

I ran upstairs to my room and buried myself in my covers. I felt so stupid and embarrassed. I eventually ended up crying myself to sleep.

I woke up to my phone ringing. I looked at it and it was my dad. I hesitated but ended up answering it.

Nicki- hello

Robert- what's going on baby girl?

Nicki- nothing

Robert- I want you to stay over at my house tonight so go ahead and pack a bag, I'll be there to get you in a little bit ok?

I didn't wanna go but I never can say no to him and plus, I'd rather be anywhere than here with my mom. The only thing was that I had to leave Meek. I got up and started packing. I took my bags downstairs and sat them by the door and then went down to see Meek before I left.

Meek- What happened?

I wrapped my arms around his torso and hugged him tight.

Nicki- she found the pregnancy test in my trash can and she yelled at me. Now my daddy is on his way to pick me up.

He kissed my head and hugged me back. I let him go a moved back looking at the wet spots that I had left on his tshirt.

Meek- it gone be ok

Nicki- I'm gonna miss you

Meek- you not gone be gone that long are you?

Nicki- I don't wanna be back until the tension dies down so I don't know how long that'll be.

Meek- just don't forget to atleast text me

Nicki- I won't

I gave him one last hug and then I went upstairs to wait for my daddy to get here. A few minutes later he pulled up. I left the house not telling anyone that I was leaving.

Robert- hey baby

Nicki- hey

I put my seatbelt on and he pulled of.

Robert- you hungry? I was gonna take you somewhere to eat.

Nicki- that's fine

He ran his hand over my head and I sat back in my seat trying not to cry again.

We pulled up to the Cheesecake Factory and we got out. He wrapped his arm around my neck and kissed my forehead. We sat down at the table and then it began.

Robert- I talked to your mom today and she told me what happened.

I put my head down.

Robert- look, I know that your growing up and when that happens things happen. I'm not gonna ask you a million questions, I just wanna know that your being smart about it and that your protected because I'm not ready to be a granddaddy yet.

Nicki- I am

Robert- is it your boyfriend?

Nicki- yeah

Robert- and when am I gonna get to meet this boy?

Nicki- I don't know

Robert- As much as I don't want this to happen I knew it would eventually. My baby girl has a boyfriend.

I was glad he didn't freak out on me but I wasn't ready to tell him the whole truth and I wasn't ready for him to meet Meek yet either.

Robert- well I got some more news to share with you

Nicki- what?

Robert- I have a new friend that I want you to meet.

Nicki- what kind of friend?

Robert- a female friend

Nicki- is friend code word for girlfriend?

Robert- I'm not sure yet, I want you to meet her first

Nicki- I don't like her

Robert- you haven't even met her yet.

Nicki- still don't like her

Robert- well I was fine with you having a boyfriend, why can't I have a girlfriend?

Nicki- ok fine I'll meet her, but I'm not making any promises to be nice to her.

Robert- be nice and I'll buy you something nice

Nicki- fine

Robert- she'll be here any minute now

Nicki- huh?
