A Moment In The Stars

You know those really cheesy romantic moments in 50's movies where the couple goes out into a field and lays in the bed of a truck and star gazes? Yeah, well that's exactly what Gerard wanted to do tonight. Now usually I wouldn't care about the dumb idea. But I saw the spark in his eye when he saw the idea in a movie we were watching and knew he would want to do it.

He was rushing around the house like a madman looking for "supplies" he would say. He came into the room carrying at least five blankets and ten pillows for the bed of his friends truck. (Gerard was too feminine in a way to own a truck. He just never wanted one.) "You think this is enough?" He asked smiling as he tossed them on the couch in our apartment.

He was so excited about this that I couldn't help but get excited myself. "Yeah, I think that'll do just fine babe. What should I bring?" I said walking towards him.

"Hmmmm, how about some snacks or something?" I nodded and headed towards the small kitchen.

I decided to pack some light snacks since we had just recently finished dinner. I packed little bags of popcorn, cookies & some hot cocoa because it's wintertime. And it gets cold af here in jersey.

I finished packing the snacks and junk and headed back into the room. Gerard was turned towards the tv when I walked in. "Okay, are we all set?" I said as Gerard jumped a bit. "Uh, y-yeah! Let's get ready to go!"

Why was he so jumpy for? He looked as if he saw a ghost or something? Oh well, I needed to get ready. I smiled vaguely and turned slightly before heading up the stairs to our shared bedroom to get dressed. Gerard had suggested that we both just wear comfy clothes but somewhat the same clothes.

Which basically meant band shirts and black jeans. Both were the smashing pumpkins. Our everyday look if you will.

I put on some eyeliner and made sure I looked alright before heading back downstairs to meet babe. When I reached the bottom steps, he turned towards me smiling like a child.

"May I escort you to your chariot my prince?" He said holding his arm out to me. We've been together for a little over 4 years. And every time he calls me his prince, I swear I still get butterflies in my stomach.

I blushed a bright shade of crimson before swiftly swinging my arm in between his and began walking out to the truck. He really makes me happy. I don't know what I would do without him in my life.

We both got into the truck and as soon as he started it, he grabbed a hold of my hand and brushed his thumb on the back of my palm the entire ride. To be honest, he's MY prince.

We were both saying quiet on the ride, my thoughts running around in my mind, the radio casting a low sound of the misfits.

After a few long minutes of riding in beautiful silence, we pulled up to a beautiful field in front of a lake. I was taken aback at just how beautiful and peaceful it all was. As we got out of the truck, I looked at Gerard who was smiling like an idiot. God, he's so cute.

We began unpacking the pillows and blankets from the back of the trunk and placed them all on the bed. I grabbed the snacks as well and brought them. "Ready?" He asked me while grabbing my hand and helping me up into the bed. Then he joined me and sat to my right

With pillows all around and behind us, 10 blankets and snacks, we were ready to go. He leaned close to me and intertwined his fingers with mine under the sheets.

We sat in silence taking everything in. The beautiful sounds of nature being the only noises. The sky being a dark blue color with the moon casting multiple rays of light onto the peaceful blue lake. The multiple stars clouding the sky, making it look like polka dots. Tiny ripples would appear here and there in the water from the small fish who reside here. The wind blowing peacefully making the leaves fall every which way. It was truly the most amazing moment I've ever been in.

I snuggled close to Gerard and he began talking quietly. "What did you say?" I said. He was whispering quite a bit.

"Ugh, I just said this was lovely. I'm glad we're out here. I've always wanted to be able to do this. And now I can." I wanted to ask why he seemed nervous but brushed it off. I shook my head and replied "yeah me too" before lowering my head onto his shoulder again.

I was about to fall asleep when he shook me awake softly.

"What?! Wha-what's going on?" I said in a somewhat state of panic!

He laughed a bit before answering. "Nothing babe. I just have something I need to say to you. Okay?" He said smiling. I nodded and sat up looking at him directly so he could have my full attention.

"Okay, well you know how we've been together for almost 5 years. And we've become as close as we've ever been. You're my other half. You mean the absolute world to me. I don't know what I would do without you in my life. You make everything so much better. I would have never wanted to live if I never had met you. You just, I don't know. You just do this thing where you look at me and all my troubles melt right away. And I'm just left standing there drooling over how amazing you are inside and out. I've never been so lucky in entire my life. I'm so glad you were my art student all those years ago. Because if you weren't, than we might have never gotten the opportunity to meet." He said stuttering a bit with tears forming in his eyes.

"What I'm basically trying to say is, Frankie, my love, you've made me the happiest I've ever been in these last 4 1/2 years. Will you make me the happiest man for the rest of my life?

Frankie, my darling, Will You Marry Me?"

Gerard says all of this while he stands up in front of me in the bed of the truck and pulls a small black velvet box from his right side pocket and getting on one knee. He opens the box and I'm in a puddle of happy tears.

What do I say? I mean, obviously I know what I want to say. I want to say yes! But I'm the nervous 20 year old who at the moment, can't figure out how to form words. So I just smile really wide and start crying while clutching onto the color of his shirt.

"YES! YES OF COURSE I'LL MARRY YOU!" I finally say after a few seconds of uncontrollable crying. He picks me up into the biggest bear hug and plants a kiss on my lips nearly making me weak and stumble backwards and fall out of the trunk.

Since it's still winter, and freezing, we quickly got back underneath the thick wool blankets and he slips the ring on my finger. I just end up staring at it in amazement. Gerard grabs my hand before kissing it and then kissing the ring.

He looks at me with those beautiful hazel/green eyes that I fell in love with all those years ago. "I just really love you, ya know?" I said.

"And I just really love you too." He replied grinning widely.

I leaned down and rested my head on his shoulder once more. I yawned before snuggling into him and softly falling asleep listening to the beautiful sounds around me. I could feel his head lean down on top of mine so I could only guess that he had fallen asleep as well.

God, there are not enough words to describe how much he means to me. I could end up writing a book about all the ways I love him but that would take years and years. I'd give up everything just for him. And I know, for a fact, that he would do the same for me.

My fiancée, Gerard Arthur Way. Xoxo
