Chapter twenty one
Early the next day as I went downstairs I heard my dad talking to someone over the phone. As I approached the kitchen he had hang up and looked frustrated. “What’s wrong?”
He shook his head. “Just hospital stuff honey, you had a good date last night?”
“Yeah...” I was sought of curious as to why he had asked because of how he had posed the question. “Why ask?”
“Just a bit of confused... how come you had two dates last night?” he asked smiling.
I moved to the refrigerator, opening it I replied. “It was just a big confusion dad, a whole load of big confusion.”
“That Preston kid is the one causing the confusion?” he questioned baring a smile to his features.
I smiled too and took the glass of milk he gave me. “Maybe” I said and sat down on the dining table chairs.
He followed suite and stared at me lovingly like a dad would. “Are you okay Abby? You look like something is bothering you.”
I sipped the warm milk slowly and looked at him. This was it...I should ask him. He would know more. He always did. “Dad” I murmured but he heard me anyway.
“Yes...” he drawled.
I breathed in, “tell me about you and mum.” That sentence alone earned a surprised face from him. He had always known that I never wanted to know the whole story...but now that I did it was surprising to him and I did comprehend the situation.
“Why do you want to know now, after all these years?” he questioned with curiosity that had always gotten me in to trouble.
I replied, “just curious and a lot of things have been happening in my life lately.”
He then cloaked his curiosity away sipped in his early morning coffee and then turned to me, looking unperturbed. But I knew better... talking about mum was not easy for him.
Hell, I knew it wasn’t easy for anyone especially if your mate had been killed...by her own dearest daddy.
He sighed and after a few seconds he started. “You know how we met already...” that I did know and as crazy as it seems they had met in one of those hunting expeditions... but they had been hunting for different things altogether. While dad was hunting for animals with his friends for the fun of it, mum had been hunting for someone...her mate.
And just like the fate planned they met over the span of the weekend and after that my dad feeling extremely possessive of her demanded in a rather polite fashion that they have a few words over a dinner. And well dinner had not ended there...
After that night they had become inseparable. My dad had known what she was but she had been hesitant at first to tell him. But then in a space of a week she had told him and in the same conversation my dad had also told her what he was...
A young witch coming from a line that was well hated by some mythical creatures...werewolves included.
The confession had been scary for him as he knew it could destroy or make their relationship stronger. As they said, what doesn’t kill you makes you stronger.
And it had made them stronger.
“One month after realizing we were pregnant with you...we decided to go and visit her parents. And that is when the chaos began...our lives changed the instant we went to visit that arrogant cursed alpha...her daddy is everything I hated in a werewolf.” He stopped and poured himself a glass of water not caring that he had coffee to finish.
