Alone on the water

CHAPTER ONE

*Chapter One*

I hear the sound of an annoying alarm clock go off, i slam my hand down on the button and it automatically shuts off.

It's December in cold, windy, snowy Chicargo and all i wanted to do was stay in bed. Feel the warmth of my blankets, cuddle up and read a book. But instead i had to go to a place where people are forced to feel left out, unwanted, judged, where having sex is cooland hip and being a virgin means your a loser. in other words i have to go to high school.

I hear a light knock at my door, i stretch and sit up.

"Come in" i say with my raspy morning voice.

I see a blonde head pop out into my room, it was Niall. I smiled as he came in and sat on my bed, he had 2 donuts and 2 coffees, 1 for the each of us. I took my donut and my coffee and slumped back into my bed a little.

"You know you have to get ready Mimi" Niall said quietly.

"Can't i just stay home today?" You whine.

Niall smiles, his smile always makes your day better. "You have to go or youll get in trouble for skipping"

I groan and get up out of bed and set the donut on my bedside table. I go to my dresser and pick something out to wear; I pick out a pair of skinny jeans, a grey sweater and a pair of black flats. I went to the bathroom to get changed so Niall could relax, when I walked back in i saw he was half asleep. i punched him in the arm and he got up right away.

"Babe, c'mon let me sleep a little longer?"

I giggle a little and make him get out of bed.

"If i cant sleep niether can you"

I grab my coffee and donut and take Niall with me down the hall to the kitchen and family room. I saw my dad at the table reading the morning paper and slowly sipping his coffee, My mum was cooking herself some breakfast and the news was blareing from the family room. Niall sat down across from my dad and i went and saw my mum in the kitchen.

"Good morning sleepy head, i had to send Niall in there just to wake you up" My mum turned and smiled at me.

"Morning mum" I hugged her from behind. "Did Taylor call yet?"

"Noy yet sweety, give it time, she will, trust me" She kissed me on the cheek.

Taylor's my big sister. Shes older than me by 3 years. She went on a vacation with her boyfriend Louis and hasnt called, texted, emailed or anything. Im not worried about her because she has Louis and i know he will keep her safe. but i do miss her so much...

"Ive got to go to school mum, love you"

I walked back into the family room and Niall stood up and smiled a little.

"Goodbye dad, have a good day today" I smile and kissed my dad on the cheek.He nods and gets back to his paper. I grab my jacket off the couch and Niall grabbed his.

Niall and I run out the door and to his car. The cold wind hitting my skin giving me chills, i shiver and hop into Nialls truck. He turns the heat on and a blast of hot air comes out. I put my hands up to cover my hair so it doesnt go all crazy...

Niall starts to drive the short way to school. It was quiet as Niall sipped his coffee and drove, and as i ate my donut and drank my coffee. When we got to school i hopped out of the car and walked over to Nialls side, who was still getting out. When he was fully out, We walked into the school, i saw Niall tense up, I ignored it and kept walking.

We walked down the hall to my locker. Since Nialls locker is farther away he waits with me until the bell goes to go to it, he just hangs out with me until then. It was quiet as i started to fix my locker and move things around.

"So what do you think you got on the chemisty test?" Niall asked, taking another sip from his coffee, which oddly he hadnt finished yet.

"I think i failed, what about you?"

"I passed, already checked my grades. Do you need a tutor or anything?"

"Yeah i guess but i most likely wouldnt get any work done"

"Well what if it was me that tutored you?" Niall asked.

I looked over at him and stopped messing with my locker.

"You. Tutor me?" I questioned the idea; i would end up getting drunk or something because of something Niall made me drink.

"Yeah, I mean think about it, youll listen to your friend, i know chemistry like the back of my hand, Im pretty sure id be a better tutor half the people who signed up for it"

i think about it for about a minute, he was right, and usually my best friend is always right. I just had to give it to him.

"Okay fine, whens the first session?"

I see Nialls face light up, "Tonight, My place, Alright?"

The bell rang and Niall hugged me very softly. i watched him walk down to his locker. But i noticed something about Niall. He wasnt as cheerful as he used to be. Granted, it is still the morning but he still usually the same as he is every day. I ignored it and got all my stuff out of my locker. i threw my coffee away and headed to class. I saw my friend Kate walking towards me. Smiling she looked like the happiest person in the world. she came up to me and grabbed me tightly.

"Guess what?" she squeals.

"What?" I smile at her, seeing how happy she was could make anyone smile.

"Harry Styles asked me out!"

I was stunned; Harry Styles one of the most popular guys in school asked her out?

"Wait, THE Harry Styles?" I asked her.

"Yes! The curly haired, Green eyed, Muscular hottie. And he asked ME out!"

I was happy and jealous for her at the same time. She knew i had a little crush on Harry but come on him? i congratulated her a number of times and walked all the way to my class.

When i got there I plopped myself down and leaned back into my chair. i was probably going to fall asleep but that was okay, looks like a sub is here today anyways. I felt my phone buzz and I jumped a little. It surprised me and people looked. I took my phone out and quickly unlocked it, seeing the text from my big sister Taylor.

'Ill be home tonight, make sure mum doesnt make a big deal out of it. See you later

I smiled at the text on my phone, which meant i was being tutored tonight, my sister is coming home and Harry Styles asked out my friend Kate. I wouldnt be surprised if the rest of the day went this amazing

But boy was I wrong...
