Eyes,
the gateway into the soul,
they let people see what's inside,
i wonder what people see when they look in mine,
i think only certain people can see what's really inside,
others don't seem to notice,
they says eyes don't lie,
which is a scary thought,
for every emotion,
every memory,
ever action,
every choice,
every mistake,
every scar,
right out there for anyone to see,
maybe that's why it's best to put up a shield,
keep them cold,
and dark,
unless you find someone you can trust,
don't let others inside,
otherwise they might break you again,
but the problem with that is,
if you never let anyone in,
you'll miss out,
on friendships that could have been,
on love that could have blossomed,
on opportunities that could have been experienced,
so yes,
build a wall,
but leave a doorway,
put a lock on it,
and only give away the key,
to someone you trust and love,
don't miss out on life,
because you're afraid of getting hurt,
just be careful,
don't throw cautition to the wind,
but when the time comes,
don't be too frozen to spread your wings and fly
