"Luke, put her down, she can walk." You instructed your husband.
You and Luke were taking your 2 year old daughter, Aaliyah, to the zoo for the first time.
"I know, but she asked nicely." Luke replied, struggling to reach his wallet, and hold a 2 year old at the same time.
The man at the ticket booth cleared his throat, you looked back at the line behind you two.
"Fine you were right." He gave up by finally plopping your daughter on the ground, and paid to get in.
"Are you excited, baby?" You asked grabbing your daughters hand.
Jumping, she replied, "I'm very excited!"
You had stopped at a sign that displayed a map of where all the animals were.
"What animal do you want to see first?" Luke asked bending down to pick Aaliyah up once more.
"Tiger!" She pointed straight ahead, where the exhibit was.
She stood with her face pressed against the glass wall.
"That's big kitty, daddy." Aaliyah informed you two, tapping on the glass.
"Can we get one?" She asked giving Luke puppy dog eyes.
"Where's he going to sleep, silly? With you?" He asked tickling her.
"Stop it!" She laughed, "I want to see monkeys now!"
You made our way over to the monkey exhibit, and you couldn't help but notice that people were starting to recognize Luke.
"Mommy! Look at this it's a...a...orange monkey." Aaliyah yelled giving up on trying to read the word orangoutang.
Aaliyah loved feeling smart, and this entire trip had tried her best to point out every animal, with its correct name, to you and Luke.
"It's called an Orangoutang" you told her picking her up.
She waved through the glass
"Hi orangoutang!"
It gave her a small wave back, and Aaliyah shrieked in excitement.
"Daddy, did you see that?" She asked squirming out of your arms into his.
"Sure did. You like the zoo?" He asked, kissing her on the head.
"I do. Thank you Mommy, thank you Daddy."
You smiled and tucked a piece of hair behind her ear, "we love you baby."
