"I'm going out, see you later!" Julian called out from the front door.
You sighed in defeat, your boyfriend skipping out on you is something you've come accustom to.
"Okay..." You trailed off in exasperation.
"Nicole? Are you okay?" Julian asked walking back into the living room.
"Yes, have fun." You replied grabbing a magazine while sinking in the couch.
"Nicole," he whined
"It's just..." You started as he sat down next to you, "do you know what today is?"
He slightly shrugged, "Thursday?"
You rolled your eyes, it's your 3 year anniversary.
"Typical." You scoffed.
"What are you trying to say?" He asked annoyed.
"It's our 3 year anniversary, Jules"
He was at a loss for words.
"Nicole," he scratched the back of his neck, "I've been busy, you know?"
"Yes I know. You're always busy." You commented playing with your sleeve.
"I was a football player before we met," he started his same speech.
"You make that perfectly clear." You blurted out.
"I'm can't read minds! Maybe you should remind me of these things." He retaliated.
"I don't want to wait around for you to make time for me!"
He stood up, "You must be crazy, what else do you want from me?"
"I only want you." You whisper.
He ran his hands through his hair, "if you would have reminded me, he wouldn't even be fighting right now." He pointed out.
"I shouldn't have to remind you! That's the point." You cried, running up the stairs.
Julian quickly ran after you
"Where are you going? You know I hate it when you run away from a fight!" He called after you.
You closed the bedroom door behind you. tears sprung from your eyes, as you sat with your back to the bedroom door.
"Nicole?" Julian's voice was softer as he talked through the door.
"You can go, I'm fine." You called out.
It was silent for minutes, you even thought he left. Until he spoke up,
"Nicole, I'll admit, maybe I haven't been treating you quite as good as I should be. I know there are little things I should of said or done these last three years but you need to know, you were always on my mind."
You open the door and he quickly pulled into his embrace.
"Nicole, I don't tell you enough but I'm so happy you're mine."
You looked up at him, "I'm sorry too, I don't want to get in the way of your career."
"I promise you're not."
He kissed you softly, "Go get ready."
"For what?" You asked.
"It's our anniversary, did you forget?"
You smiled and walked into your bedroom. You really were lucky to have Julian in your life.
