For @simranburrows
You starred at your boyfriend, almost in shock. He closed the front door behind him. Normally you would run down the stairs to meet him, maybe even leap into his arms, but not tonight.
"Odell, I want to ask you something, and I want you to tell me the truth." You spoke cautiously from the top of the stairs.
He looked up from his shoes and nodded in response.
"Why'd you come here, after three weeks?"
He turned away slightly
"I don't know if I want this anymore." He gestured to you.
You took a deep breath, "if it's over, because you want it to be over, I'm glad."
"I do."
"It's just you've never quit anything since I've known you."
He looked up to you with his jaw dropped.
"I don't know what you want me to say. How did everything that was so good get so bad?"
"Tell me what's bad? What?" You asked, your voice cracking.
He didn't respond to you, he just looked at his shoes.
"Why don't you tell me the truth!" You yelled.
"You want to know the truth? I don't want to lose what I've got, in the beginning it didn't matter but now... I don't want to lose what I've got!" He confessed.
For the first time in a long time his walls came crashing down.
"What do you have to lose?"
"You!"
Silence filled the room, now he was just one step away from you.
"But you're losing me, Odell you're losing your family!"
You fell into his arms, a quiet sob escaped your lips.
"I'm sorry Simran, it's going to be okay. I'm going to make it be okay."
"How?"
He looked deep into your eyes, "please, let me kiss you."
He did, and then he kissed you again. Gently, he carried you to the bedroom to make up three weeks of being apart.
