For @SimpleAndAnonymous this was soo hard to write, because I HATE the packers, thank you for requesting!!
"Aaron?" You asked the tall, dark haired man who sat at the table.
"Yeah, you're Gracelyn?" He asked shaking your hand.
"Yes, you can call me Grace." You told him, taking a seat.
"I ordered you a water." He said, pointing at the glass that sat at the table.
"Sorry I was running a little late." You added picking up a menu.
You were trying your best to stay calm, your friend had set you up on this date.
"You look lovely." Aaron blurted, causing you to glance up from the menu.
"Thank you, you don't look too bad yourself."
"So Grace, what do you do?"
You thought about your answer long and hard, you didn't want to tell him about kids quite yet, that tended to scare men off.
"I...work from home." You told him.
"Doing what?"
"Childcare."
He shook his head, and opened his menu again.
"You're a football player?" You asked, trying to make small talk.
"Yeah, you watch football?" He asked, perking up at the subject.
"No, not really, although I did watch the lions beat you in Lambeau."
You joked, in effort to lighten the awkward mood.
You made small talk the whole evening, and eventually you became comfortable.
"I really enjoyed this, Grace." Aaron told you, walking you to your car.
You looked down at your feet.
"Aaron, I haven't been honest with you."
He sighed, "Please don't tell me you have a boyfriend."
"No, nothing like that. I'm a single mother, and I understand if you don't want to see me again."
You finally gained the courage to look him in the eyes.
"Do I seem that shallow?" He asked; rhetorically, "What are their names?"
You loosened up, "Levi who's six, and Eden is two."
He smiled, "can I see a picture?" He asked.
You pulled out your phone and showed him a picture of them in their Halloween costumes from this past October.
"They seem like great kids."
"They are." You assured him putting your phone away.
"So, when can I see you again?"
You dropped your mouth open, "You want to see me again?"
He laughed, "Of course I do, why wouldn't I?"
"I have a lot of baggage."
He smiled weakly, "everyone has baggage, Grace, but your baggage is cuter than most."
