Goodbye. . .

I tore my dresses from the closet. I ripped t-shirts out of my dresser. I swept makeup, hygine products, and towels off of my bathroom counter. I jumped on my bed and threw pillows, blankets, and sheets into my mess of a room. Tears and pain blinded me. What was this? Love? It couldn't be.

Love should never hurt someone this much.

I sat at the end of my naked mattress, head pounding and wetness staining my cheeks. Small sounds of pain escaped my mouth, and I grabbed at my loose, knotted crimson hair. My brain was trainwreck of turmoil, and my room was almost as worse. I sat panting, looking over the destruction I had caused. The open window allowed a small night breeze to cool my hot face, urging me to calm down. Come on, Amabel, the wind seemed to say. Just leave it all behind.
I hurriedly found my suitcase in the hurricane of clothes, stuffing in everything around me, jeans, hair products, feelings. I shoved it all away, leaving my dirty sheets and towels in a pile on my bed for my aunt's laundry convenience. I took one last look around the room, finding a piece of paper and a pen, my sword and shield. It was nearing eleven o' clock, and I rushed down the stairs quietly, gazing in the direction of Thomas' room before creeping into my Aunt's bedroom.
"Aunt Evie." I whispered into the television-lit room, walking towards the bed where my aunt lay.
"Hey sweetie, what's wrong?" She asked, her tone taking on concern as she saw my unusually emotionless face.
"I'm sorry. I'm leaving." I said, not actually sounding like I was sorry at all.
"Leaving? What? Where? Why?" Her questions came at a rapid pace as she sat up, crossing her legs underneath her.
"I'm going home. I can't stay here any longer. Not with him." She gives me a sad look and picks up my hands, squeezing them in her own.
"I understand sweetheart, but you know he'll just chase after you when you leave." My nonchalant laugh filled the dark room, and my aunt frowned.
"I doubt it. He knows you now, he loves you."
"I know that. But he's in love with y-"
"Don't." I closed my eyes, trying to remain patient with my optimistic Aunt.
"I can't, Evie. I'm sorry. I'll come back to visit you soon. Can I please take the convertible?"
The car keys make small clinking sounds in my hands as I stride towards the front door, quickening my pace so as to not run into Thomas. I am two yards from the door when a voice stops me in my tracks.
"Amabel?" I barely pause for a second before continuing to the door, and his footsteps thunder after me. His hand touches mine, and I pull it back as if his fingers were lit on fire, turning to face him and efficiently revealing my angry, tear-stained face. I grab the doorknob as I look coldly back at his confused expression, turning away as he continues to try to stop me.
"Amabel, don't do this." I hear him say as he walks down the stairs after me, and tears threaten to pour from my eyes as I maintain my stoic expression. I make it to the car and open the trunk, throwing my luggage in as Thomas continues to ramble on.
"Lama, what-"
"Don't call me that." I cut him off, my voice devoid of emotion as I shut the trunk. He knits his eyebrows, sadness filling his dark eyes.
"What?" He asks stupidly, and I walk to the driver's seat door.
"I said, don't call me that." I open the car door, and he grabs my arm.
"Ama-"
"Don't touch me." I say, my voice filled with sudden anger, and I rip my arm from his grasp as I shut the car door and turn on the engine, ignoring Thomas's brokenhearted expression. Acting. It's all just acting.
"Amabel!" I hear him cry as I begin to pull out of my driveway, but I refuse to look at him. I make it to the road and take one last look at my best friend. Messy blonde hair, dark puppy eyes, confused sadness gracing his features.

And I drive away.

"Dear Thomas,

You can have the good room. Turns out I don't feel so happy in it anymore.

- Amabel"
