Like A Ball Of Yarn. . .

"Hey!" Thomas shouted as he jumped out of the street, bus driver honking the horn a few times to scold us. I began to laugh with relief and Thomas's reaction, grabbing his arm.
"Did you literally just say hey to the dude that almost made you into a human pancake?" I say, my voice filled with giggles. Thomas brushed off his shirt whilst looking at me with one eyebrow raised.
"Why yes, yes I literally did. Near death experiences do not cause me to loose my manners." I laugh again and grab his shoulders without thinking, pulling him to me. He hugged me back, and when we pulled apart, I got lost in his dark eyes. Again. Dang. I like dark eyes. Have I ever noticed this? My best friend has dark eyes. Maybe that's why I like them. . .
I hear Lilia cough behind us, and I pull away from Thomas, who seemed to be as lost in the moment as I was.
"Are you okay?" Lilia asks Thomas, rubbing his arm affectionately as she giggled. I felt like I wanted to think that I was throwing up in my mouth, but instead I kinda wanted to cry. Well thanks life.
I have to accept that they are gonna be together. It's going to happen. I can't control him, and he doesn't like me. Ugh. My sad- NO, happy life.
We all walk the rest of the way home, and I become quiet again as Thomas and Lilia bond. Lilia and I head upstairs as soon as we arrive, as it was already 4:00, and, let's just admit it ladies, it takes us a while to get ready. Two hours is actually perfect.
I shower and dry my red hair while Lilia plays on my phone and I crank up the R5 as I walk out into my room where she lays on my bed with Duke, my Aunt's sweet Great Dane. She looks me up and down when I come out and hands me my clothes.
"Alright, get dressed and then we'll see what we have to work with. Curly or straight hair?" I put my finger to my lips and think. Meeting Matt's parents. . .
"Straight. They should know what I look like day to day. "
"It's a plan." Lilia says, nodding. I walk back into the bathroom and change into my dress, inviting Lilia in as soon as I'm done to do my makeup while I get some kinks out of my mostly straight hair with a flat iron.
"Okay, I'm thinking natural. . . Some black liner on top and just a little in the waterline on the bottom with some light pink shadow?"
I nod in consent as Lilia shuffles through my makeup bag to find her tools. I apply some concealer and then let her work her makeup magic. When I open my eyes I am very pleased and I thank her viciously (yes, viciously). We sit on my bed and talk about my date for the remaining fifteen minutes we have, and I jump up when the doorbell rings.
"Wait! Let Evie answer it. You have to make an entrance." Lilia says, holding me back. I wink at her to acknowledge her good idea and stand by the stairs to listen in on Matt. I hear the door opening and then my Aunt's voice.
"Oh, hello. You must be Matt."
"You must be Amabel's Aunt. Nice to meet you ma'am." I can imagine them shaking hands and I giggle at Matt's politeness.
"Yes. Well. I want her home by ten, no drugs or alcohol, I'm warning you. I hope you know that I will end you if you hurt her." My aunt says quietly, thinking she was saying this undetected.
"W-well you know it's only dinner with my family, right?" He asks her, and I giggle silently.
"I know. . . Oh, I'm just being silly-"
I come down the stairs, deciding that this had gone on for too long.
"Oh, Amabel, you look lovely." Evie says as Matt's mouth drops adorably.
"Y-you took the words right out of my mouth, Mrs. . .?" He glances at my Aunt for her last name as he takes my hand and spins me lightly, his gorgeous brown eyes hardly leaving me.
"Oh, no Mrs. Just a Ms." She says, a smile crossing her face.
"Well I cannot imagine why. I bet you're a man killer." I can see Evie's eyes sparkle and I knew that my boyfriend had stolen her heart.
"Well, you two have fun. See you, Amabel." She says, pinching my arm and winking to acknowledge her consent. I wink back as Matt and I link arms and walk to his car together. I am happy with him, contrary to other beliefs. I think that I may be falling for him, and I actually cannot wait to meet his parents. My life is tumbling and unraveling before my eyes, and I'm sure that this whole Thomas deal will be done soon. Matt and I are happening, and I am happy with this happening.
And then I remember as Matt and I are on our way that Lilia never left the house.
