Falling In Love With Dr. McCoy {ON HOLD...AGAIN}

Chapter 3

A/N: So sorry that I have not updated in forever. School has been annoying and I have had an unusual amount of homework in the last couple of days. This chapter is dedicated to @narniachild for her wonderful help with this story.
Elisabetta opened the door to Room 414 and popping her head in, said "Surprise sis. I am here to take you home. Now where's your bag?"
Claris sat up and smiled wide, "When did you get here? I missed you so much."
Elisabetta answered, "I got here today but first I was interviewed by the doctor for whom I will be working with. He is the cutest guy I have ever seen."
Claris smiled feeling happy for her lil sis who had suffered so much after losing her mother. The two were inseparable but Claris was the more sensitive of the pair. She had grown up with the burden of having to act grown-up at the tender age of 5. Their father entered into a period of grief until he met with his high school sweetheart who coincidentally had also lost her husband about the same time as he had. Only she had two more kids that were both older than Claris and Elisa were. They were one girl, named Deborah and one boy, named Darren; Deborah was 9 and her brother was 7 and they thought that by bullying Claris and her sister they would get what they wanted from them. Claris and Elisa bonded tightly because as they grew, their father began to slip from their lives. He became completely enthralled in what his wife or her kids did. Claris had had to plead to be able to go StarFleet Academy. Her stepmother had deemed her only useful for marrying and keeping house. At least her father had taken her side and let both, Claris and Elisa go.
Elisabetta coughed and broke Claris's reverie. Claris smiled and stood up, careful not to put weight on her injured foot. Elisabetta grabbed their bags and opened the door. Claris went after her and they turned a corner. Dr. McCoy chose that precise moment to appear. He looked at Claris and smiled," Have a good recovery, Doctor and I hope to see you again soon." Claris nodded and answered, " Thank you, Bones." As soon as the girls were outside, Elisa squealed," Isn't he cute??" Claris laughed at her younger sister's ranting about her new boss. After what seemed like hours they arrived to Claris's apartment and Claris immediately walked to the sofa and threw her broken ankle up against the coffee table in front of her. Elisa put the bags down, grabbed her PaDD and threw herself next to her sister. " Hey, do you know that Jim is here too? I wonder how he ended up in StarFleet Academy and he is the most prone to disaster. Does he know you were coming?" giggled Claris. Elisa looked at her sister and burst out laughing; her cheeks flaming up. Claris poked her in the arm, "Don't tell me that you still have a crush for him?" Elisa shook her head, "He's just a friend now. But that doctor today was sure handsome." Claris stood up, sighing, and limped to the kitchen to fix herself a snack. She fixed herself a bowl of cereal from the replicator and after a second thought made her sister her favorite snack, bananas, strawberries and blueberries with yogurt and condensed milk. Claris limped back to the living room to find Elisa flipping the channels on the TV. " Elisa is anything on?" Elisa nodded and put on "Beauty and the Beast". They both loved this movie even though it was pretty old; when they were younger Claris used to tell Elisa that she looked like Emma Watson, who played Belle and now as Claris glanced at her sibling with her long brown hair pulled up into a messy bun and with her face slightly turned to the left, Claris remembered how Elisa looked just like their mother.
Elisa was short with a somewhat pale complexion. She had a sweet ovaled face with piercing blue eyes, a small mouth and nose. Her long brown hair was her crowning beauty as it was wavy and soft. Claris on the other hand was tall though she shared her sister's complexion. Her face was fair with a determined air to it. Her green eyes had a sprt of far-off look to them like she had lived through trials that had made grow up before she was ready for it. Claris's mouth curved upward making it seem as she was always smiling. Her hair was short, up to her shoulders and was a dark shade of blonde with highlights of golden brown. 
Elisa woke up at around noon and laughed as she realized that Claris and Elisa had fallen asleep on the sofa outside. She gently nudged her sister and Claris opened one sleepy eye, "Hmmm, what time is it?"
"Sleepyhead we slept in. It is noon." answered Elisa.
Immediately Claris stood up and after eating a sandwich for lunch, limped to her room to get ready to leave. When she  reappeared, Elisa was waiting for her at the door. Claris smiled at her sister. They both looked in the mirror before leaving and Elisa joked, " With these blasted uniforms, we look even more like twins. We are going to give the professors such a hard time." Claris grinned, "At least we aren't in the same class. Now that would be trouble, right?"
It was intimate moments like this that marked the sister's memories with happiness. Growing up they were never shown affection, love or even acknowledgment. Their father was gone most of the time working and Alice, their stepmother, was convinced that Claris and Elisa were absolutely useless creatures. In those days they met Jim Kirk and the trio became the best of friends. Theu had a common ground that not many kids at school had. Jim's stepfather was also abusive with him and often the trio would escape during weekends to a lake that was near their houses and camp out there until things at home calmed down. But as Claris now looked back on her past the happy seconds that she had with Elisa and Jim outweighed the sadder moments of life. 
"Hey, Claris. We're here at Medbay already. Are you ok? You seem kinda pale and you haven't spoken since we left home." Elisa was worried for her sister. Claris blinked and replied," Don't worry. I'm fine, just traveling down memory lane. Haven't done that in a while. Sorry if I scared you." They entered hand in hand; Nurse West appeared around the corner then and she smiled, " I am glad to see that you are better, Dr. Reinders. Hello Elisabetta, may I take you to Dr. McCoy's office?" Elisa nodded, " Yes, please. My sister wants to know if Mr. Kirk is still interned here?" Nurse West answered after checking her PaDD, "Yes. He is in room 356. I can take you both there because his room is a little ways from Dr. McCoy's office." Claris agreed, "That is a good idea. I still have to memorize the layout of this Medbay."
Soon they arrived and the sisters entered the room. Jim was already looking better than he had 2 days ago. " Hello. What are you guys doing here? Last I saw you, Elisa, you were back in Iowa planning to take over the neighborhood. And you Claris what happened to your ankle?" The girls laughed; their friend was back to his normal sarcastic self. Elisa answered, " I enrolled in StarFleet two weeks after you two did. Cruella de Vil let me go though in her opinion I will come back home after two days crying becasue of the pressure." Jim started laughing, "So the old goat still thinks you are stupid children that cannot even make their own life. I would love to see her face when you graduate with honors from StarFleet." Claris loved to hear them talk; it was as if they were alone in the room. They had beem like this since they met when they were seven years old. She now spoke, "After I came to check you, I went outside for a walk and ended up breaking my ankle. So thank you idiot." At that moment the door opened and in walked Bones. " Hey. How are you, Jim? Feeling better?"
"Yes, Bones. Very much better.  Now can I leave?" inquired Jim.
Then Bones realized that the Reinders twins were there. " Hello ladies. I am glad to see that Miss Clarissa's injury is already healing. You are a bit early, Miss Elisabetta. Would you like to take the tour now instead of at the original time?"
Elisa answered, " Yes. That would be wonderful."
Jim interrupted saying, " Maybe afterwards we can go eat something at one of the restaurants nearby."
Claris nodded, " I second that idea. I will stay here talking to Jim while you two tour Medbay."
Jim smiled wide at that suggestion. He was reminded of the reason that they were such good friends and wondered if maybe they could include Bones to the trio making it a quartet.  He mentioned that to Claris after Elisa and Bones had left. Claris said, " You have a brilliant mind and yes that would fine with me."
