3rd Person POV
It had been days after she'd been in thee maze, she was a bit isolated. Evan would still stare at her, wondering what it was he felt toward her. She would be the one to get berries from the forest and fresh soil. He often worried because not to many people did like her.
(Y/N) was on her daily routine, walking out into the woods and grabbing some soil. She loved the feeling of the dirt getting caught under her nails, it was a way to connect with the earth. She had grabbed enough soil, and got up. She turned and took me me step, then fell to the ground, spilling the soil. She looked at who pushed her, it was Ben.
"Ben?" She asked. She stood up and brushed herself off. "You okay?" She asked. He was breathing heavily and his veins were showing, she worried. "Ben.." He screamed at her. She started to run as he chased after her, she was hyperventilating as she ran as fast as she could. They both tripped down a hill, but she ignored the pain as she screamed for help when running to the village. Evan was the first to stand at his table, watching as (Y/N) was pulled to the ground by Ben. He grabbed a shovel out of Jon's hand. He hit ben's head to get off her.
"He-He.." She was out of breath as Evan grabbed her by the waist and lifted her up. "He's sick!" She cried.
"Lift up his shirt." Alby said.
"Alby! Alby! No!" Ben screamed. (Y/N) stared in horror as they lifted his shirt and she saw a puncture in his stomach.
"He's been stung.." Evan breathed. They all went silent and listened to Ben's cries.
"Lock him up." Alby whispered. Ben cried no, as he was dragged to the cages. (Y/N) was released and Evan now stood in front of her, grabbing her by her shoulders and tried to push her toward the gut. Her eyes focused on Ben, being thrown in. She finally let Evan push her in as he led her to her bed.
In the evening, they all gathered to the gate, waiting for Evan to bring Ben. All the men held spears with horizontal sticks at the end. Though, she didn't hold one, they didn't think that she could handle it, neither did she. She closed her eyes as she heard Ben scream it was her fault as he walked by. Evan cut his ropes and pushed him in the circle, throwing his bag through the gate.
"No please, Evan, please." He cried and coughed, "it's her fault!" Evan shook his head and went behind the guys. They started pushing him in the gate as it closed, Evan kept glancing at (Y/N) who watched in pain as he was shoved behind the gate. He walked over, wrapping his arm around her shoulder and comforting her. Alby came by and stood in front of her, placing a hand on her shoulder.
"He belongs to the maze now." He sighed. She looked down, closing her eyes as he walked away. Evan moved her to the sleeping tents, making sure she was warm and comfortable in his arms.
"(Y/N)?" She looked up at him.
"Yes?"
"Are you gonna be ok? I mean, with the Ben thing." He scratched his neck nervously, she shrugged.
"I don't know, I mean, what is being stung? By a bee? Are bees that ruthless out here? I just.. I have so many question that need answers." Evan nodded, holding her closer as she listened to him breathe. She soon drifted to sleep in the warmth of his arms and he did as well, feeling at peace around her.
When the sun rose, Alby decided it was now time for a new runner. No one volunteered of course because they all missed Ben, and no one wanted to take his position to make him upset. Evan had been waiting patiently all morning for a hand to be rose, she didn't even notice that she was staring until he winked at her. She, oh-so-suddenly, had a spark of bravery and her hand shot up.
"You?" The guys laughed, she was hurt, but not broken. She stepped up, putting her arm down and turning to the men.
(Moment of quotes right here, I swear, I didn't steal them)
"Just because I'm a female doesn't mean I can't be like you. Just because I'm female, doesn't mean I can't do sports. Just because I'm female, doesn't mean I can't do the same things as you. Just because I'm female, doesn't mean I'm the princess who needs to be saved, no. I can be the knight, I can be the athlete, I can be the legend, and I can be who I want to be. I'm tired of everyone thinking that just cause I'm female means I'm gonna be the maid, the chef, and the damsel in distress. I'm just as strong as you, I'm just as smart as you, and I'm just as human as you." The guys looked down in shame at her words, she still continued "and I'm for damn sure that you're not gonna treat me like that no more. Cause if there is gonna be some of that, then there're also gonna be some blood shed on the grass, how about that?"
"Woah." Evan laughed. (Y/N) giggled a bit and turned around, gasping for air. She grabbed the best and put it on, admiring it.
"Never knew I had it in me." She breathed. Evan wrapped his arms around her waist. He leaned down and placed his lips softly on hers then pulled away,
"Neither did I." She was mad red right now, still staring at him.
"What-what do you all that?" She giggled. He thought about it,
"I think it's called a kiss..?" She grabbed the hem of his shirt.
"Well I want another one."
[A/N]: Sorry if that was poorly written, I was in a rush to get this done. Anyway, hope you all have a wonderful day/night and I'll see you next time! Bye!!
