It had been a few months since Melody had arrived at guard camp. Since then, things had been pretty good. She was doing great in all her classes, Jason really had been a great mentor. She and Garroth sparred oftenly, almost always ending in a tie. He seemed to like her, and she had been debating for a while on whether or not to tell him who she was. Melody moved up in the ranks quickly, becoming one of the best fighters in guard camp. The only ones who rivaled her were Garroth himself, and two recruits from other camps, some blue haired guy, and the other a boy with really long orange hair. However, Melody wasn't exactly popular at guard camp. The fact that she came in at the tail end of the year, and then became one of the best fighters in camp, didn't sit well with a lot of other recruits. Many rumors flew around the camp about her, none of them good. She tried not to let it bother her, but the only people who actually seemed to be on her side was Garroth and a girl in her dorm who had a really big crush on her brother. It was kinda awkward to hang out with both of them together. Thankfully the other students were smart enough to not try and start a fight with her, since she would probably win. But that doesn't mean that they wont try and get rid of her...
