It was dark out, and Melody was riding through the woods on the outskirts of Nahakra on her white stolen horse. The guards had given up the chase a while ago, leaving Melody on her own to process everything that had happened. Prince Caleb had nearly exposed her true identity, and soon afterwards tried to arrest her. Leaving Garroth behind, she stole Caleb's horse and fled the scene. Now here she was, all alone, or so she thought. Through the dense brush, Melody could see light, flickering through the darkness of night. Still atop her horse, she trotted towards the source of the light. Once she got close enough, the girl dismounted, telling the horse to stay as she got a closer look. Still hidden amount the trees, Melody saw a group of three young kids sitting around a pitiful fire. There were two boys and a girl, their clothes were torn and muddy, and their hair tangled and dusty. They looked to be around 12 years old, what were they doing here?
"Hey," Melody said softly, stepping into the small clearing. The kids gasped, and scrambled to their feet, backing away from her.
"Its okay, I'm not going to hurt you," Melody told them reassuringly, "Why are you guys out here all alone? Its nearly midnight." One of the boys stepped foreword cautiously while the others remained where they stood.
"I could ask you the same thing." The boy said boldly. He had light brown hair and gray eyes. Melody smiled at him.
"Fair enough. Im running from someone. I used to go the the guard camp here, but, something happened, and I ran away." She told them, not seeing any reason not to. They were just little kids.
"We ran away too." The little girl said. She had deep blue hair, pale skin, and her eyes were dark blue.
"From the orphanage, nobody wanted us there." The first boy explained.
"I see. Well then, Im Melody, guard camp runaway."
"Im Kalzul, and this is Anastasia," Kalzul pointed to where the other boy was still standing," And thats Aidan." Aidan had blonde hair and green eyes,
"Whats that?" He said softly, pointing behind her. Melody turned to see tat he waas pointing to a steak of white in the forest.
"Oh, thats my horse, wanna see?" She asked. The children all nodded excitedly, and waited in anticipation as Melody led the stallion over. They were all impressed by the horse, who pantingly stood as he was petted and admired.
"Whats his name?" Anastasia asked.
"Actually, I haven't though of a name for him yet. I just sort of, stole him, I guess." Upon hearing this, Aidan turned to look at her with wide eyes.
"You stole him? Woah, thats so cool! Who'd ya steal him from?" He asked eagerly. Melody chuckled at his enthusiasm.
"Oh, no one special, just the prince of Nahakra village." The three looked at her with admiration.
"How did you mange that!?" Kalzul asked excitedly. So Melody told them of how she had punched Caleb when he tried to arrest her, and how he screamed like a little girl when she took his horse and galloped away. They laughed so hard that last part. They were just so cute, Melody couldn't help but become attached to them.
"Yeah! Caleb should pay for what he did!" Aidan yelled, pumping his little fist up in the air.
"Heck, the whole village should pay! Treating us like misfits!" Anastasia shouted. Now was the time when any good or responsible adult would tell them that revenge was never the answer, and that they should forgive and forget. But Melody Ro'Meave was no responsible adult. So she smiled wickedly, and said to them,
"So why don't we go cause a little trouble, payback for all the trouble they caused us!"
