Epilogue

-10 years later-

Melanie's POV

Lillian never woke up from her coma. We had a funeral for her and I ended up turning off my emotions. They got me to turn them on a month later. Kol went crazy and he got himself killed to be with her. Emma eventually came back but we will never be the same. We have the occasional talk but we can't be the same ever again. Never again. I can't. Melody has grown up a lot and she went to college.

"Damon? I miss her." I whisper as we cuddle closer.

"I know babe. I know. We'll be ok." He assures me but I can't trust his words.

"Damon? I can't stay here." I tell him.

"What do you mean?" He asks confused.

"I mean... I can't stay in Mystic Falls anymore. I've lost my family here." I tell him tearing up.

"But... It's home." He tells me wanting to stay.

"You can stay but I'm not staying anymore. So come with me or stay here. It's your choice." I get up and use my magic to pack all my stuff.

"I'll leave but can we say bye to everyone first?" He asks. I nod and he texts the whole group. They all arrive an hour later. Matt. Caroline. Alaric. Bonnie. Stefan. Klaus. Rebekah. Elijah. Emma. Melody.

"Me and Damon have decided that we can't stay here anymore so we are leaving."

"When are you leaving?" Caroline whispers.

"Tomorrow evening." Damon answers and I glare at him knowing his intentions.

"How about a big sleepover?" Bonnie suggests and everyone nods except me.

"Fine." I grumble. They all cheer and I click my fingers zapping all their stuff here. We all just watch movies and eat junk food and we eventually fall asleep. This is my family. I can't leave. They are my family. I can't leave.

-THE NEXT MORNING-

We all wake up when we are ready. Bonnie being the last one.

"Guys?" I get their attention.

"You are all my family. I originally wanted to leave because I lost my family here. I thought that no one could replace them but you guys have. You are all my family. I can't leave you guys." I say sheepishly.  No one says anything for a minute when they all suddenly cheer. Damon wraps his arms around my waist and I lean back.

"Well done, sweetheart." He says kissing my neck. I look around at everyone and smile.

MY FAMILY ARE THE BEST.
