I feel lonely when you disown me, my friends.
You say used to know me then, now my body's under arrest.
We are not your lovers,
We are not your friends.
We are just sinners,
We're condemned to death.- Little Death. You Me At Six
Chapter 4
I couldn't believe this was happening. I was basically an adult - I felt like an adult. But here I was being handed over to a totally different family like I was a child. The car ride was long- almost an hour.
"The Hemmings have been on the waiting list for quite some time now and haven't had a new edition for a year or so," the social worker sitting next to the officer said as we park in front of a large cozy looking home.
She then gets out and opens the door for me. The officer begins to get my two suitcases and I sling my backpack over my shoulder. When we reach the porch I just want to die. I probably look like I already did. I fixed me hair in the window and I see that the makeup had faded. My bruises were still there and the makeup wasn't. I began to panic. My new family would already hate me.
Luckily there was only one bruise on my face it was on my jaw. They probably wouldn't see it unless I pulled my hair back. I quickly put my sweat shirt on and put my hair in front of my face while the social worker rang the doorbell.
My first thought was that he was super attractive. He was tall, blonde, with baby blue eyes. I wonder if he part of the foster home too. It was an awkward silence until my social worker said something.
"Is Liz Hemmings around?" She asked.
The guy looks back into the house and yells.
"MOM! Door," He shakes his head and walked back into the house.
Well that was rude, he didn't even let us in the house. He probably already doesn't like me. Brad was right. I wish I was back with him. After a while of standing on the porch a young lady came out. She looked to be in her 40's. The boy looked a lot like her.
"Oh, wow you must be Juliet, I didn't expect you this early, sorry about my son, why don't you come in," Mrs. Hemmings said.
We walked in, the house was so nice. It was so much bigger then Brad and I's place. The social worker had no problem making herself at home, she sat on the couch.
"Can I get you guys anything to drink?" Mrs. Hemmings said.
"Yes, I'll have a tea," the social worker said.
"Juliet?" she asked.
"No thank you," I said.
"Ok, Luke why don't you show Juliet her room while I talk some stuff out," Mrs. Hemmings turned back around.
I followed him up a big long case of stairs with my bags. He looked like he wanted to help but didn't say anything. Once we got to the room I was shocked.
The room was white and yellow, It had a window seat. A big bed- maybe a queen. Even had a bathroom. This is so much better than my old room.
"We share a bathroom just to let you know it connects to my room, and my mom wants you back down stairs soon," Luke said.
Well that was awkward. I have a connected room that's nice to know. I shook my head, I just got to remember to keep the door shut. I set my bags down and unpacked some of my things. Then I headed back down stairs because Mrs. Hemmings might need me.
I walked down and took a seat next to my social worker. Her and Mrs. Hemmings were still talking. My social worker had her sign paper and they talking about my past and family background, even though there not much to talk about and they didn't know the worst of it.
"Ok, I'll let you guys get to know each other, you should be set here, if you need anything call." the social worker waved.
After that she left, looks like that was it. Mrs. Hemmings and I walked up to my room. She was helping me unpack while telling me the rules of the house.
"Ok. well I only have two rules-
1) Curfew is 10:30,
2) I have to know what your doing if you leave the house and you always have to ask for permission," She said. Those were easy. I wouldn't be going anywhere anyways.
"Thanks for letting me stay here Mrs. Hemmings," I said.
"Oh no problem and call me Liz, I am going to get dinner ready be down in about an hour!" Liz said.
"Ok" I said.
She left the room and I started to finish unpacking. I was unpacking the personal stuff now. All the clothes were already unpacked. I was unpacking family photo's. I didn't have very many. One of me and Ryder and Brad. Then one of my parents together.
In about an house I was done packing. Liz called us down for dinner. There were two little kids sitting at the table. They looked so much alike. I bet you they're twins.
"Who is she?" The little boy said.
"Jacob that's Juliet, she'll be staying with us for a while," Liz said.
"Oh," Jacob said
The girl was so quiet and shy it was cute. She had her blond hair in a pony tail. She was wearing a pink polk-a-dot dress.
"Juliet these are the twins Jacob and Hannah, they're 6 years old," Liz said
AW they were so cute even though they didn't say much. Hannah kept blushing. During dinner it was super quiet.
"Ok, Juliet you might want to get some rest, I'm guessing you'll meet the boys tomorrow, and I also need help getting ready, so I'll see you in the morning," Liz said.
"Goodnight," I nodded.
I wonder who the boys are? Oh well I will find out tomorrow. I headed upstairs for the night. I was super tired. It is hard moving into a new home. I'll just have to get use it. Because I know Brad isn't coming to get me anytime soon.
