Madi's POV

I watched out the window to look at the ravishing scene. It was a nice bright day, few to no clouds in the sky and the temperature was supposed to get hotter. Enormous tree's branches swayed from the light breeze that brushed through them. Birds flew in and out of the trees and lands on small delicate limbs concealed out of sight.

I looked down at Lynn sleeping on my lap. Something has been troubling her obviously but I'm not really in any position to be asking about her personal life. Right now I will just admire her serene state. Ruby looked back and whispered softly to not wake Lynn up. "Brian said we'll be there in 20 minutes or less." I nodded my head and looked back out the window. I adjusted my legs a bit having them laying down instead of upright. I moved slowly for Lynn's sake and finally got more comfortable with her still sound asleep.

I sat there and watched while I thought of Lynn, and Ruby, and..... Luke.
I always thought I could trust him. He was always there for me as I was for him. When his ex-girlfriend cheated on him I went over to his house at 2 in the morning with ice cream and horrible horror movies to make fun of to cheer him up. It's what Ruby and I always did when we were sad. When I was alone on Valentines Day he bought flowers and gave me a photo of Ruby, Luke, me, and Ruby's brother.

Did I lead him on? He knew I wasn't interested in guys so what made him think he was an exception? I wonder what happened to him since the incident. I looked back down at Lynn and smiled. She looked so adorable laying there, comfortable. She looks like she hasn't slept in days or at least she's slept but it was restless. I looked over at her left shoulder and saw there was a bruise from where I think Luke kicked her. I hovered my hand over it and gently laid it down on her shoulder. I can't believe she actually helped me though. She could have walked right past but she went against a guy 6 inches probably taller than her and much stronger than her.

Ruby told me she went over to the police to have a word with Luke and ended up breaking his nose when the cops weren't looking. I laughed to myself to imagine her doing that. I looked back down at Lynn again but saw she was looking right at me with a concerned and slightly shocked expression. "Are you okay?" She whispered. I felt something drop from my jaw and felt my face to feel a wetness on my skin. I realized I was crying but I don't think it was from sadness. I nodded at her getting returned with a questioning look. "Just happy." I responded for reassurance. She just made a small smile and nuzzled her face onto my leg. Magnificent is probably the word that could describe Lynn.

There was a jerk of the car and everyone looked back at us. "We're here. Make sure you have your stuff." Lynn opened the trunk opening up and slid out. She helped me out because my butt and thighs were very numb. Alex and Brian were getting into swimming trunks behind some bushes. Ruby was getting dressed in the car. Lynn slid the shirt on and took the previous shirt off. She put a towel around her lower half and slid her pants down and put the trunks on while she held the towel still around her waist.

I did what Lynn did and it was surprisingly easier than what I expected. I was wearing a shirt that exposed my shoulder and my ribs a bit. I think it was a muscle shirt but no clue, and wore shorts instead of swimming trunks. Ruby had on a red t-shirt and shorts as well. It suited well with her brownish black hair and bright green eyes. Alex and Brian were shirtless wearing green trunks.

We walked a little down a trail dodging itch weed at almost every turn. We passed a couple more trees until we saw a grand lake. It was humongous, the water shimmered in the afternoon sun and the water looked clear seeing the bottom. There were few items in the bottom besides a few planks of wood. Alex put towels on the sandy ground and put a large stereo on the ground. He turned on the radio listening to "Out of the Woods" I honestly never liked Taylor Swift but it was a good song. He turned the volume all the way up while Brian sprinted towards a wooden dock and leaped off slamming face first into the water. He surfaced and encouraged everyone is wasn't even cold. The temperature got very hot out now so I wasn't going to decline going into the lake. Ruby, Alex, and I ran off the dock and cannonballed in together making a large splash.
