I slowly open my eyes shying away from the gray shine of the winter sunlight.
I see the blurred silhouette of Dan sleeping against a nearby tree, I scrunch my hands in the damp frosty grass and turn my head to watch the trouts playing in the shallow stream, what a place to black out huh?
I grab Dan's hand to assure his sleeping conscience that I'm fine his eyelids flicker and he sighs his chest bobbing up and down.
I heave bruised body over to the stream and wash myself, despite the pinching cold I feel weightless and clean when I come out of the stream.
I dress in my last set of clean clothes and walk over to wake up Dan, I move the hair out of his face and shake him gently, he doesn't respond, I feel his pulse and breathing both fine, but he has a temperature to top the charts, I pray to God he hasn't got the infection when I check his hair line.
My suspicions are proven next to his hair line are whisps of green, I finally shake him awake after cooling him down with steam water.

"Dan, there's something I need to tell you," I stutter trying not to cry "the thing is... It's... you have the infection and I don't know how to stop it and j don't know what to do."
I burst into a river of tears as he embraces me he says nothing, I feel his tears in my hear and I hug his as if it's my last hug with him, because it may be I just hope I can help him through it.
