"H..a..p..p.y Birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday, dear Shay, happy birthday to you."
This was the first thing I heard before I opened my eyes. I rubbed them and finally focused on what, or more like who was in my room.
There Ben stood holding a beautiful bouquet of orange roses and a tiny gift bag. And the grin on his face couldn't be contained, making me break out into a full smile, bedhead and all.
"Good morning." I said, sitting up, barely able to contain a giggle.
"Good morning," He replied grinning, "Happy Birthday. I come bearing gifts."
"Awh, Ben, they're beautiful." I said, taking the roses from his outstretched hand.
"Awh, and there's a card too, I feel so special." I said, patting the bed for him to sit down.
"It's not much...." He began as I read his writing....
Dear Shay,
I just wanted to wish you a happy birthday. I'm so glad you're in my life (even if it's only been for a few days...so far) and now I couldn't imagine it without you. You're such an amazing girl, and if this birthday is nearly half as amazing as you, I'll count it as a success. Thanks for letting me spend part of your birthday with you, I hope you enjoy today. I look forward to spending the rest of your birthdays as your husband.Love,
BenWith tears on my cheeks, I looked up into the face of my fiancé, who was sitting there with an unsure look on his face.
"Ben...thank you. This has already become the best birthday I've ever had, thank you." I said, reaching over and hugging him.
"Well, this is just the beginning." He said to my back.
"Yes, I'm so excited to spend more birthdays with you." I replied still hugging him.
"No, I mean, like there's another surprise." He said, pulling out of the embrace, and looking at me with a big grin.
"What do you mean?" I said, knowing I already had everything I could ask for.
"I'm going to go downstairs and take up your mom on the offer of coffee, and you can get ready." He said, standing up.
"Get ready for what?!" I asked.
"I told you, it's a surprise. Just dress like you would for school." He said stepping out the door.
Super excited and nearly bursting from anticipation, I leaped out of bed, thankful I showered last night, and got ready as fast as I could, still trying my best to look nice. All the while I was trying to guess what the surprise was....
