"Alright, I've got everything. Are you ready?" I asked Shay.
"Absolutely." She replied. "What can I grab?"
"Umm...how about the light?" I asked.
"Sure." She said, picking up the lantern-light that I had laid on the island.
"Okay, follow that hall. I'll be right behind you." I told Shay, picking up the tray with our sticky rolls and tea.
"Turn left." I said as we approached another hall.
"Okay."
"Then right." I told Shay.
"Alrighty."
"Now open the third door on the left." I said.
"Okay."
"Wow!" Shay whispered loudly.
"What?" I asked walking past her into our library.
"It's huge!" She said in awe.
"Yeah, it's pretty cool. But wait til you see this." I said, setting down the tray, and going over to a built-in-bookcase. Once I reached it, I pushed it open to reveal a darkened hidden room.
"OH MY GOSH! That's so cool!" Shay said, having a hard time containing her excitement.
"This is my favorite place in the house." I said grabbing the tray, and walking into the room.
"Wow." was all Shay could muster as she walked through the opening.
"Just give me one second." I said going over to find the matches to light the wood in the fireplace, since the room had no heat, or light.
"No problem." She said, still taking in her surroundings.
"Ah, there." I said as the fire roared to life.
"Wow." Shay said as the fire lit the room, and she was able to see the walls lined with books and artwork.
"Is 'wow' your favorite word or something?" I said with a smile, putting some pillows and blankets over toward the fire.
"No, but this is all so amazing. I've always wanted a library, and this is just...breathtaking." She replied.
"Well, we'll have to add that to our house hunting wishlist." I answered with a smile, secretly full of anticipation for that next step in our lives.
"Great." Shay said with a big smile, as I started to pour some tea for us both.
"Ben," Shaliene said, in a concerned voice, causing me to stop and look at her, "who was that man at the store?"
"Are you sure you really want to know?" I asked. Am I sure I really want to tell? I asked myself.
"Yes, Ben. I'm sure." She replied.
"Okay, here goes nothing." I began, feeling that nothing would ever be the same between us again.
