Part 17 : Real Life

Caspar's POV

I watched as Zoe scrambled down the stairs with two pairs of keys in her hand. She ran over to me and uncuffed my hands. I looked over at Leah to see her unconsciously leaning on her arm. 'Oh my god Zoe! Leah she's unconscious!' I shouted maybe a bit too loud.
Joe's hands immediately released from around Alfie's neck. He jumped over to Leah and tried to wake her up. He tried kicking her lightly and saying her name but nothing worked.
'Joe we need your help' Zoe said as me and her tried to drag Alfie's body onto the stairs. Joe came over and we handcuffed Alfie to the banister then Marcus to the other side. Zoe went and rang the police while me and Joe went over to Leah. We tried to lift her up but her hands were still tied up. We scrambled around looking for the keys. Zoe came of the phone and joined our search.
Suddenly there were several loud bangs on the door and it eventually fell in. We found the keys as the police came in. Joe ran over to Leah and uncuffed her hands. He carried her outside and lay her on the grass. 'It's going to be okay. We're out now.' I heard him mumble softly.
Me and Zoe stood in shock as the police took Marcus and Alfie away. We walked outside and joined Joe and Leah on the grass. He was crying into her shoulder as she lay unconscious on the wet ground. I reassuringly put my hand on his shoulder and told him to let the paramedics - who had just arrived - to do their work. He stepped back and started crying into my shoulder.
'It's all my fault' he said between sobs.
'You couldn't have done anything else.' Zoe said sweetly.

I quietly asked Zoe if she wanted to stay at our house while the insurance company fixed her house and she agreed. We walked into the back of the ambulance and sat with Joe.
