Part 28 : Competitions

Zoe's POV

Alfie walked in. Of course. Of course it would be him.
'What have you done?!?!' I shouted at him.
'Oh, never mind that sweetie.' He said in my face. I spat back at him. He wiped it off and stood up.
'You'll learn.' He said creepily and walked out.
I turned to Joe and began to cry. He patted me softly and Leah hugged me. They kept on telling me everything would be okay. I knew they meant well but I couldn't help but not believe them.

2 hours later

We'd been sitting in the same room for 2 hours until we heard shouting coming for outside. One voice was Alfie's as the other I didn't recognise.
'Who's the other voice?' Joe said quietly as if he was reading my mind.
'I'm not sure...it sounds like a woman though.' Whispered Leah.
'I wonder who it is and why they're here?' I spoke silently. The shouting continued and we listened carefully.
'Your only doing this because you want the girl!' The woman said. Leah and Joe turned to me and my body shook with fear. I managed to recompose myself and began to listen again. 'Give the other two to me and then we're all happy, well two of us anyway.' She started to laugh hysterically. Joe, Leah and I just sat, shocked. We didn't want to be separated. We needed to stay together. They were the only reason I'd got through this much. If I had been alone I had no idea what I would do. The thought of being alone...with Alfie, sent a shiver down my spine.

The shouting continued for a while until we heard footsteps and then a door slamming shut. We found rocks on the floor and began to play noughts and crosses. We created a competition to keep ourselves amused. Two people would go against each other, it was best out of three, whoever won the most games goes through to the next round.
First up it was me vs Joe. I won the first game and he won the second and the third so he played Leah. Joe won all three. He was champion of the game. Me and Leah played to see who can second. I won two and she won three making me second place. 

This was the first time I'd been here and actually felt happy. I'm glad I was with Joe and Leah. We comforted each other. I couldn't imagine what would happen if I lost either of them.
