Hayes POV
"Hey Daniel." I say greeting him with a dude hug.
"Hey."
"Can I talk to y'all?" They nod and I began. "I am asking Matt's permission to date his sister. And I'm asking you to help me."
"Hayes I don't think you understand, she has a boyfriend." It felt like my stomach had been punched 100 times.
"She huh?"
"She has a boyfriend. That's why I didn't want to bring you around her." I walk out of the room. I can see Kayla in the living room. I turn and go around the other way. I over hear Kayla say, "he was so cute!" I think to myself is she talking about me or that boyfriend of hers? I think I will ask Haley who she was talking about.
Kayla POV
Haley and I are talking about Hayes. "He was so cute!" Then I hear the floor creak. I look in the other room to find Hayes standing there. I smile and wave for him to come sit down. He sits on the other couch. Why is he doing that? "Hey Hayes."
"Hey Kayla." We were completely silent. Haley finally broke the awkward silence between us. "Hayes did you ever get that part you needed for your truck?" He nods. "Cool. Would you mind taking us for a ride?" He nods and says "maybe soon." I smile at the sound of his voice. It doesn't exactly sound like it did when he was introducing himself. It sounds like he's upset. I think I will ask Matt what's wrong with him. I decide to walk to the room where Daniel and Matt is.
Haley POV
"Hayes what's wrong?"
"Matt told me something I didn't want to hear."
"What?"
"Kayla has a boyfriend."
"No she doesn't." He looks up confused.
"Yes she does. Matt just told me."
"Clearly Matt is trying to keep you away from his baby sister." Hayes looks mad.
"Are you sure she doesn't have a boyfriend?" I nod. "Then I'm going to ask her out tomorrow!" Hayes replies confidentiality. I just nod.
Kayla POV
"Matt do you know what is wrong with Hayes?"
"No. Why?"
"He won't talk and he looks sad." Daniel looks over at Matt madly. Matt looks at the floor and continues. "He's probably sick."
