Love( Near x reader)

You sat in the swing as you remembered the sweet memory  that made your heart flutter. It was a few days ago when you and Near had finally had a break after having cracked a case...

You stretched your arms and flopped on the chair " I never thought I'd be so happy to finally have a break" you muttered , you waited for a reply but it never came. Curious,you turned around and saw Near staring off into the distance as he twisted his hair in his finger.

" Near?" No response, you sighed . Near would only zone out when he was deep in thought you stood up and placed a chair besides him. " Near?" Yet again no response . You poked him as it was now his turn to sigh " can you stop poking me?" You beamed at him " you finally talked!"

He chuckled at your childish behavior as you questioned him " So what were you thinking about?" He pondered for a second before giving a simple answer "love" you furrowed your brows in confusion "what about love?" He turned around and faced you " Y/n-chan, what is love? " you were taken aback by his question , you stared at him while you thought about your answer.

" love is a feeling we have, there are many examples of love such as the way a mother loves their child and protects them and then there's another type of love. This is the most complicated love of all for you don't choose who you fall in love with, it just happens and once it does you feel the urge to be with this person, to hold their hand and comfort them when they need it, to laugh with them and the scariest thing of it all is that you'd do anything to keep them safe even if it meant dying." He nods as if analyzing your answer making you smile at him " so why do you want to know ?"

He stares at you and sighs " Because I think I've fallen in love with you ." Your eyes widen in shock as you stare at the boy in front of you " nani? (What?)" he twirls another lock of hair in his fingers " ever since a few days ago, I've had those feelings, I'd want to do anything I could just to make you smile and when I asked Mello what these sudden thoughts meant he laughed and told me I was in love. Yet I don't know what love is." He furrowed his brows as you tried analyzing what he'd just said.

" Y/n .... do you love me?" He muttered as a slight blush crept onto his cheeks.
" I-I do" you muttered making his eyes widen , he blushed even more and looked away " When I looked up love it said it could be shown by actions of affection such as kissing and seeing as we both ehm love each other I thought we could ehm try k-kissing each other" you giggled at his awkwardness as you cupped his cheeks and connected your lips with his . He seemed shocked at first but slowly gave in as he closed his eyes and kissed you back.

Once you two broke apart he smiled " I guess this makes us lovers" you blushed as you smiled back at him " I love you Nate" he twirled your hair in his fingers as he laced his other hand with yours " and I love you Y/n"

" near..?" "Hai?" " what else did you find when you looked up how to show your love..?" He scratched the back of his neck while blushing " n-nandemonai"
