Devin's POV

I laid in bed and rubbed Irene's back. I couldn't go to sleep.

I didn't know why I was taking everything so serious. Sure Leo had said some things about her, the kids, and myself. But there was a line that he said that really go me thinking.

"You really think she's gonna stay with you. We have four kids together and more to go. She'll always come back to me and you'll always be that lonely 45 year old man forever"

He rubbed that he and Irene had kids together in my face. That was ok but to say she was just going to go back to him, after dumping me, that hurt.

I know I'm a grown man and that it shouldn't hurt that bad but I really love Irene. I want to marry her and I want to help her raise the kids.

I stopped rubbing her back and scratched my bald head. I don't want to be that guy she uses just because she's trying to get Leo jealous. But I also don't want to be that guy who ruins everything with the perfect woman because of what some jealous blockhead says. I decided that laying in bed and thinking about it too much was just going to cause me even more stress.

I was about to close my eyes when Irene head moved a little. Her eyes opened.

"Are you ok"

I nodded knowing damn well I wasn't. I just didn't want her to think that I was letting Leo get to me.

"I'm fine. Get some sleep" she stared in my eyes for a good 10 seconds then moved over so her head was on her pillow.

I sighed and did the same but wrapped my arms around her waist. I want our relationship to go far, but I don't want to get my hopes up just for my heart to be broken. Maybe I'll talk to Irene tomorrow or to Leo.

Irene's POV

I woke up and reached to feel the huge muscles I wake up to every morning. But he wasn't there.

The kids were already so used to Devin and my relationship. They knew that we weren't going to do anything sexual other than kissing until the divorce was finalized, but as it seems that may never happen as Leo is so butt hurt about everything.

I did my usual morning routine and decided to call my lawyer later in the day. If Leo wasn't going to sign the papers the nice way, then he was going to do it the hard way.

I liked Devin a lot maybe loved him.

I was making pancakes when the doorbell rang. I raced to open it thinking it was Devin. My smiled dropped when I saw Leo. His face was down and he wore shades. Which was weird since it was December and hardly any sun.

"Here" he handed me the papers. I grabbed them but my mind was racing. What was he hiding under his shades. Before I could stop myself my hands reached up and snatched the glasses off.

I wish I hadn't though. He wore a black eye.

"Oh my gosh Leonardo Michael Nachilli what the hell happened to your face"

"It's nothing" he tied to grab his sunglasses but I moved them out of the way.

I grabbed his chin and made him look at me.

"Who did this to you. Tell me dammit" he ripped his head out of my grip. He snatched his glasses.

"You don't care about me. I've signed the paper see you court about the kids or do you want to co parent without the courts being involved"

I nodded my head and watched as he got back in his car and drove off. I looked at the divorce papers that were in front of me. They were made by his lawyer. I skimmed through some of the stuff.

Keeps the house
The cars are hers
Co-parenting for the children
Every thing that Mr. Nachilli stays with Ms. Wade

I didn't want to argue with him so I held the papers near my chest, closed the door, and walked back to the kitchen.

THE PANCAKES

Leo's POV (last POV of the chapter)
~The Morning Before Seeing Irene

I laid in bed thinking about how stupid I must have looked at the dinner. I was there to fix my relationship with Irene but I'm sure I messed it up. It just hurt me real bad when she was so cuddly with Devin. That should've been me.

I grabbed my remote and flipped through some channels and landed on ComedyCentral. I was halfway through an episode when my doorbell rang. Who the hell will be at my house at 5:13 am.

"Yes" I asked opening the door. Devin walked through my apartment like he owned it.

"Stay away from Irene" he said lowly.

"I'm sorry but you need to leave. I'll stay  away from whoever I want to"

He scoffed and grabbed my from my pajama shirt collar.

He got I my face and pushed me into the wall.

"Stay away from her now. She doesn't want you she wants me and that's how it's gonna be for awhile" I shoved him off me and fixed my shirt.

"Why so you and her and run away together" I laughed and shook my head. "You do know that me and her will never be separated she loves me" anger filled his eyes and his fist connected to my face.

"Leave me alone"

I laughed and grabbed the divorce papers I had drawn up.

"Let's see. I'll sign them and bring them to her house, you stay close behind. Watch her if I'm lying then I'll leave for good and only talk to her for the sake of the children. If I'm telling the truth well we don't have to be smart to know what you have to do"

We shook hands and got ready. I knew that once Irene saw my black eye she'll step into mother mode.

*skip the part when me he gives the papers *

I got in my car and drove to the block over. I waited for Devin's car to drive up the block as well. We both got out and the pain that showed on his face, was hilarious.

"I'll give another month. If she doesn't talk about me than I'm gone for good" I said. I wanted to watch him squirm. He nodded and got back in his car.

This was going to be a fun month.
