Episode 3: Then The Smoke Turned To Rain

" We make a pact...." Hanna said her voice was cold and bitter as she stood from her friends dead body.

" We never speak of what happened here got it!?"

Kaori sat up in her bed after a long sleep it would be a while before the school was rebuilt so many students had to attend the next nearest high school but Kaori, Kazumi, Hanna, Dio, West and Rin were given time off. Also many students also did not attend today. Today was the funeral for Mayumi and tomorrow was the funeral for Garret. The whole week had been filled with funerals of the students who had died in the fire. Also the teacher which they had found under the rubble who was also dead. No one knew what and how it happened but everyone blames the six survivours.

Kaori got up and got changed. She put on a black and white checkered over shirt and underneath she wore a white tank top with several dark colours splattered over it. She also wore black skinny jeans and black boots. She then picked up her red hoodie and put the hood up and zipped it up. She walked towards her front door and left her house. She lived alone so no one would ask where she was going or what time she would be back. Shelooked at the sky as rain clouds began to appear and rain began to fall lightly. Across the street was a run-down hotel type building which housed seven people with one spare house.

Rin lived there with his mother and father. Rins house was on the first floor of the building. The building had two floors the ground and first the only way to access each door was a stairwell and small walkway outside the building. Rin was stood with a dark blue hoodie up over his head leaning on the railings gazing out over the town. Rin noticed Kaori leaving and decided to go down and talk to her the six hadn't spoken since that day. Rin hadn't even spoken to Aoi who he had no idea the location of anyways.

Rin walked down the steps and towards Kaori who stopped and turned to him. " Hey, How you holding up?" Kaori asked as Rin walked beside her.

" Alright, I guess" Rin replied sighing as the two walked down the pavement beside rows of shops majority shut because of Mayumi's Funeral. As they walked up the path they noticed ahead of them entering the cemetery was the people going towards Mayumi's funeral. In the group was Hanna who was looking to the ground upset.

" I hope she's alright" Kaori said staring at the group.

" Me too" Rin replied and glanced at the funeral group. Rin shuddered and felt uneasy. He felt as if someone was watching him. He looked around and saw no one.

"Rin? Are you alright?" Kaori asked reaching out to him but being cut off from an answer by a loud shout.

"Look! Its that girl! The one who survived the fire! I bet she started this! It explain why she suddenly appeared last month!" A woman screamed at Kaori. Kaori looked at the woman shocked but understood why she blamed her.

"Please, I didn't start the fire..." Kaori began.

"I heard that she was at the scene when those two girls were murdered in there tour bus two months ago" Another person chipped in.

Kaori froze and angry flooded through her. A tear fell down her face and she couldn't stand to be there anymore but instead of fighting back she did all she knew and ran as fast as she could away from the women rain was pouring heavily now and Rin ran after Kaori. The thing was she was at the tour bus, she was inside when the tragic accident had occurred.

Hanna watched Kaori as she ran. Hanna knew it wasn't her but couldn't bring herself to run after her. Hanna walked up towards Mayumi's soon to be grave and sat throughout the funeral service. Afterwards when everyone had gone home Hanna stayed beside the grave in the pouring rain. It brought back bitter old memories of things that had happened before. She closed her eyes and pushed the memories away and looked up to see a few rows away Dio stood at a grave. Hanna walked towards Dio and now could read the grave. Aki Lockheart. She was a student in the same class as Dio, Apparently she had died in a car crash last spring.

"Dio..." Hanna began. He looked up at her and gave a gentle smile.

"Hey Hanna" He said softly.

"Did you know her?" Hanna asked.

"She was in my class, I wanted to pay my respects, Someone's got to" Dio told Hanna smiling again.

Hanna knew there was more to the story but didn't want to ask for more. Hanna looked over Dio's shoulder to see West standing at a tree playing with a pocket watch. " You guys go every where together, Don't you?" Hanna asked.

"Well, we've not got anyone else so we stick to each other, No one likes to be alone" Dio told her smiling once more.

Hanna was shocked by those words. He seemed to always say what was right even though he was sad inside. "Your right" Hanna said smiling back at him.

"KAORI!" Rin shouted as she ran ahead. Kaori didn't know where she was going but she just kept running as fast as she could. Kaori then felt one foot get caught by the other and she fell onto her face and cried again ontot he wet pavement. "Kaori..." Rin said finally catching up and crouching beside her.

"Why?" Kaori said simply as she sat up.

"Why what?" Rin asked.

"Why didn't he kill me!" Kaori whinnied crying again and scratched at her arms but then one peculiar thing happened a white block of light appeared as if a wall and wouldn't let her touch her skin. Kaori was shocked by it and Rin also. Kaori looked at rin.

"Give me a knife..." Kaori asked.

"What? No! Why would I even have one!" Rin shouted.

Kaori sighed and searched through her pockets and found a metal paperclip. She unfolded the paperclip and take the sharp end and pushed it as hard as she could into her hand but again a white block of light appeared making it impossible for her to do so.

"What? What Am I?" Kaori asked looking at Rin who was astounded.

" Come on, Let's get out of the rain" Rin said trying to make sense of it as he stood up. Koari shakily stood up as well and they made their back to Kaori's house. Though when they crossed the road outside Kaori's house a motorbike sped out one of the driveways and up the road towards the two. Kaori screamed and Rin covered Kaori with his arms keeping her safe and then the noise of the motorbike stopped. No the noise everywhere had stopped. Rin looked up and so did Kaori to see everything around them had stopped. Children who had been playing outside Rins house were stopped in mid air and the motorbike was stopped in front of them. The two walked of the road and looked in shock at the world around them which in a blink of an eye went back to normal again and everything began to move. The motorbike sped past and the kids began to play again.

" There's something wrong with us...." Rin said.

A few metres away a mysterious figure watched the two as they stumbled into Kaori's house. He would attack tonight it was the only thing he could do before their powers got stronger.
