Episode 16: Kazumi

"Papa, Papa!" I yell as I feel a forceful punch across my head. It hurts a lot I can hear the noise of my heart thumping in my chest. I yell out again as he throws me out onto the pavement. 

"Don't come back you hear me?" He yells slamming the front door. I shiver in the rain and lie on the ground for a while. The ground had scratched my face as I was thrown and I was bleeding. I didn't move though. 

"Hey Kid... You alright?" A man asked me and I looked up at this guy with dirty blonde hair and an umbrella. 

"Man your bleeding" He said crouching down to me. I feel faint and really ill. I sat up and looked at him. 

"Where's your parents?" He asked.

"Papa... Papa..." Is all I managed to splutter before I began to cry. My frail body fell and I shut my eyes tight and the man caught me. 

"Hey.... Your Kazumi right I've seen you around school..." He said to me. I looked up at his friendly face and sniffed, I nodded.

"Your too pretty to cry okay? I'm West, I take care of you today" He told me.

I hugged him. I managed to smile. I never knew what caring for someone was till then. Thank you West.... Thank You so very much...

Kaori and Rin were at the stage in the park looking at the damage it had taken last week. It still wasn't fixed. " Kaori... Are you alright?" Rin asked.

"I can't handle this anymore Rin... The constant chaos and death" Kaori told him tears in her eyes. 

She hugged Rin and he hugged her back. "It's okay Kaori..." He told her.

"No it isn't..." Kazumi croaked from behind them. Rin and Kaori jumped and looked at Kazumi who was unrecognizable. 

"Kazumi... Your hair..." Kaori said and looked at Kazumi's eyes and jumped.

"I'm different now... Strong, The pain, The constant pain, I used it, Built it up and now it gives me power" Kazumi said her expression turning into a sinister smile.

"Kazumi... Your scaring me..." Kaori said.

"Thats the point Kaori... I'm here to kill you, You and everyone in that fire.... Then the pain will go away" She said. She took her gloves off and Rin and Kaori stepped back. "I can do more than just make things explode now, I can make things float like stars and make them crash into things" She told them.

Suddenly a piece of metal from the stage was ripped off the rood and began to glow. Rin and Kaori were a lot further from Kazumi now. "Look a shooting star..." Kazumi said and the metal was thrown at them and exploded. 

"Kazumi?" 

I awoke slightly dazed. "Hmm?"

"You feel asleep, I took you to my house, I bandaged your wound for you" West told me. I touched my cheek and felt a padded bandage tapped to it.

"You hungry?" He asked.

I nodded with a smile. 

"Here" He said handing me a hot bowl of Tomato soup. I drank all of it very quickly.

"Careful, Too much and You will make yourself ill.." He said laughing.

I giggled.

Then my heart sank a loud thump was on his front door. "I know you got her you..." It was my father he began to curse real bad. I was scared again. 

Kaori opened her eyes and saw Rin on her. He had shielded her. "Rin, Thank..." She began until she saw he wasn't conscious She rolled him off. "Rin?" She questioned. His arm was mangled awfully bad and was twisted into an unusual shape. He still had a pulse though.

"Kazumi! What did you do!?" Dio shouted. Kaori stood up and saw them run to the stage. Him, Hanna, West, Mayu and Garret.

Kazumi turned to them "More to die, Makes my job easier" Kazumi said. She made two more large bits of metal be torn from the stage making it unstable. Kaori fell as the stage shuddered. It then began to collapse.

Dio quickly teleported to Kaori and Rin and grabbed them and teleported back to the ground. "Thanks Dio" Kaori said.

Hanna quickly went to heal Rins arm. Kazumi jumped from the stage and hurled the metal at them. Kaori used her powers to make  massive shield made out of pure darkness to shield them. The metal exploded on the wall but no one got hurt. The shield dropped.

"She won't stop until either we or her is dead!" Garret told them. 

"We can't kill her!" Hanna said.

"We have no other choice..." West said. Everyone looked at him. His eyes showed sadness and anger.

"I will always protect you okay Kazumi?" West told me. I remembered that day. He told me he would always protect me. He would do whatever was best for me. He got arrested that day for attacking my father and I didn't see him until high school started. He still protected me till this day. He will always protect me.

"What do you need us to do West?" Kaori asked.

"Kaori! You're not seriously going along with this are you!?" Hanna yelled leaving Rin.

"Hanna... This is the only way this can end" Miki told Hanna going to her. 

Garret knew Miki was right she had told him earlier of how she has visions of the future and when she sees it, It cannot be changed. 

"No more chit chat!" Kazumi yelled tearing lamppost's out the ground and throwing them at them. Kaori protected them while Garret distracted Kazumi allowing West to get close. West was behind her when she turned around.

"What are you doing West?" Kazumi asked her voice was the same as the first day they had a conversation soft and broken.

"Kazumi, This isn't right you need to stop... Or I will have to kill you" West told her.

"You wouldn't hurt me West, You said you would always protect me, So your threat means nothing" Kazumi said smirking. 

She ripped a piece of bark of a tree making sure it was sharp and aimed it at West. "I didn't want to kill you West but your just going to get in my way" She told him. She fired the bark at him at the same time he drew a sharp piece of metal and stabbed her through the heart.

Everything seemed to go quiet. I watched West as his eyes were full of tears. My body fell to the ground but he caught me. I turned my head slightly. I saw Hanna screaming and trying to run to me but Dio wouldn't let her.

Garret looked at the ground his face full of guilt. Kaori was crying and Miki was sad but not crying. I looked back at West and smiled. "Thanks, You protected me when I needed it most, You did what I needed" I told him as I felt life drain from my body the last thing I saw was the rain as it began to pour, The same as that day we met.
