"Dinner was...um...interesting." Erica said wiping her mouth.
"Yup. The soup was yummy." Robert said gulping down his fourth glass of water.
"I did not prepare soup...it was meatloaf." Mason said frowning, causing me to pout and rub his back.
My baby tried his best, they should give him some credit. We were all seated around the glass dinner table awaiting dessert to be served. Today's choice was fruit parfait, my favorite! Mason's cupcakes would be eaten tomorrow as a snack.
"So how's the company holding up?" Erica asked me, digging into her dessert when they were placed in front of us.
"It's doing amazing. The staff I have working for me are pretty great; things are moving along smoothly." I said, smiling.
"Say, when you start writing another movie how about you add a sexy security guard role and you know...cast me." Robert said grinning.
"I will think about it." I laughed.
"What about you Mason?" Erica questioned.
"What about me?" He asked, still upset about the meatloaf misunderstanding.
"How's the big time Royals' music company going?" She asked.
"Great." He mumbled, causing her to frown.
"Don't be like that Mason, the food wasn't that bad." She said trying to cheer him up.
"He will be alright." I said, kissing his cheek then dug into my dessert.
The remainder of dinner was pretty silent except for the clanking of spoons on the glass cups. Soon it was time for Robert and Erica to make their ways to their own homes, leaving Mason and I alone for the rest of the night. Well as alone as we could be with two hundred staff members.
"What's really bothering you?" I asked him while we were snuggled against one another in front of our fire place.
"It's nothing..." He said looking distant.
"You know you can tell me anything right?" I said.
"Yeah I know. It's just a little embarrassing that's all."
"Tell meeee." I cooed poking his cheek.
"I just worry that you love Erica more than me, that's all." He said as his face turned red.
"That makes no sense, Mason. She's my female best friend. You're more than that. You're not only my best friend, but you're my soul mate as well." I said, looking into his eyes.
"Soul mate? Then why don't we have any children?" He asked, getting frustrated.
"You know why Massie. Right now isn't the best time for us."
"Really, do you mean the best time for you ? Because I am more than ready to have a little one running around." He said, turning his face away from me."
"Now Mason, that isn't fair at all! You're NOT the on that has to carry the child and take off from work. My career is really picking up right now. I honestly just want to focus a little more. Besides, I feel that we're too young right now." I stated.
"You're right. I'm sorry." He said, kissing on my neck while his hand roamed further up my thigh.
"Mason..." I moaned closing my eyes. Shaking the blanket free from my body, I shifted and straddled him.
"It's one of those days huh?" He asked smirking.
"Mhm." I said, kissing on his neck. Getting into it, his arms snaked around my waist while his hands gripped my ass.
"*Ah-hem. Mrs. and Mr. Royals' there's something you guys need to see." One of our doormen said, shifting uncomfortable, clearly embarrassed that he had witnessed his bosses in the act.
"What is it Sheldon?" I asked, getting up from Mason's lap and followed behind him.
"There seems to be man at the gates begging to see you. He claims that he knows you very well." He said.
"There's plenty of people who claim they know us." Mason said appearing behind me.
"I understand sir. But this is very serious, please follow." He said. Giving Mason a look, we both followed him outside to the front door. A servant was there with slippers for both Mason and I. Thanking her, we both slid into them then followed Sheldon outside to the golf cart that would take us down to the gate.
Shivering I cursed myself for not putting on a jacket before we left. Mason seemed unbothered by the cold. He seemed more annoyed than anything.
When we arrived there was a crowd of paparazzi taking pictures of someone who was on the ground.
"Open the gate." I said to the gateman who was on duty.
"Are you crazy? They will ambush you to the ground!" Mason said, while the cameras flashed their bright lights capturing pictures of Mason and I. I know the tabloids will eat us up tomorrow morning.
"Mason we HAVE to let him in. What will our fans think?" I said, nodding my head for the guard to open the gate. By now our security had arrived and had to crowd under control.
As soon as I saw those eyes, I knew exactly who it was. Gasping, I covered my mouth then dropped down to my knees. My heart had packed up and evaded my chest. Allowing a single tear to shimmy down my cheek, I stroked his face.
"Sherwin?" I asked, already knowing the answer.
"Yasmine." He replied coughing up blood.
I knew things would never be the same.
