Chapter 6teen

*Natalie*

"Nice place" Kyle said as he strolled in my Grecian home.

It took us a little over three hours of flight time from Paris to Athens and about half-hour to finally get to my newly acquired abode. It's one of those single person's house where you'll find a master bedroom, a den, a living room, dining room and kitchen. It's quite a change from what I am used to. But I like its quaint simplicity.

I went through the whole elimination process of choosing between a house, condo, apartment, even a houseboat by the marina. Nate found my newfound freedom rather amusing for my liking because he kept on offering for me to just live in his Grecian home - which I refused. He says that his sister is so grown up that he cannot even baby me anymore. We all have to be on our own at some point, right?

My house has a homey feel to it. That is why I decided to purchase something that is pre-owned. It used to belong to an old couple who just recently moved in with their daughter as the dad was in need of full-time care. His wife's health wasn't up to par either. So, after a few months of coaxing from their children, they finally moved out and in their daughter's home.

It was a bargain too if you ask me. With the view of the Mediterranean down below and the quietness of the streets, it's the perfect home for me to unwind after a long day's work. No one actually knows where my new home is located...well, except for Kyle, I guess.

Not only do I feel physically drained, there's also a residual emotional drain that is starting to creep up on me. My parting with Spence was a little bittersweet but I guess he does run his family's business in some parts of the world too and had to attend to it.

On top of that, I had to deal with my own mother's prison break from her marriage with dad. Why does she always have to create such a drama in our lives? Is this some kind of game for her amusement? I wouldn't know the answers yet as I still have to confront her soon enough.

I was surprised that Kyle sent off Monica once the obscenely inane matchmaking fiasco my Grandmother Jules set up back at the Ashburn villa. Even more so, she didn't throw a fit at his dismissal. Okay, I was downplaying it because she was almost on the verge of tears when he walked her to the limo to take her to the airport - first class no less. What a drama queen!

I didn't question it because that solves my issue that I didn't want her along for the Amsterdam trip. Does that mean I wanted time alone with the idiot? Maybe. Why? I have no clue.

"Are we sharing a bed tonight?"

Kyle asked on the other side of the closed bathroom door. I looked at the door waiting for it to open at any moment. Knowing him, I'm surprised he hasn't tried forcing his way in the room. A choking laugh came out of me as I heard the teasing in his voice when he asked me his absurd question.

"No Lily, you get the couch" I said as I sunk lower in my claw-footed tub.

For some fucked up reason, I slipped lower than I intended when I saw the bathroom door's knob turn and opened a moment later. Once I was able to emerge from under the bubbles, I started spluttering some water that I accidentally consumed when I submerged under the soapy water. I shot a glare at Kyle as he approached me.
