Twenty-5ive

“Are you sure it looks natural?” I asked Shelly as I sat in front of my vanity.

After leaving the hospital, I booked an emergency hair cut from my usual salon to get my hair bleached a lighter shade and a trim as well. I also dropped by the nearest 24-hour pharmacy to pick up non-prescription forest green contacts. Right at the moment, I am doing a dress rehearsal with my PA since she’s the closest I have to someone who I can trust with my sensitive situation.

In the mere moments of having Kendall in Liz’s hospital room, I took notice that her hair is a lighter blonde than my hair and it is shorter than mine by a few inches. I don’t know if Kyle knew about Spencer and Kendall. It turned out that Chase was the one who was sending me the photos. I don’t know what his reason for it but Nate told me that Chase is just looking out for me.

Neither my brother nor his best friend felt any remorse for looking out for my love life and sending me creepy cryptic photos my way as long as I had fair warning of the heartbreak that I was courting. I admit, it stung a bit but I guess Spencer was living a lie this whole time since all he wanted from me is to relive his old happy-go-lucky relationship with a Kendall look-a-like.

“If you feel uncomfortable with the contacts just wear a pair of sunglasses. I don’t think the guards will check your eye color just because they had a hunch of something awry.” Shelly said as she stood behind me placing her hands on my shoulders.

A sigh escaped my lips as I got up from my seat. It’s the break of dawn and I plan on catching Kyle at his house before he plans on going out for today. Pretending to be someone else was the only thing I could come up with that might let me slip in the gated community. I need luck on my side because I honestly don’t know if he’s ever brought anybody back there with him.

From what Nate had told me, there were only two streets within the gates making things much easier. But if the streets are long stretches then, I would hope that Kyle parked his SUV outside instead of instead his garage. That’s a far stretch since Nate hasn’t had the chance to find out where he lives all these times because of that exact reason Kyle made it impossible for us to know the correct house.

“Your taxi will be here in two minutes” Shelly announced as she gathered her purse from a nearby plush chair in my downtown condo.

“Thanks” I said as I turned around to assess my attire in front of my full length mirror.

I chose a simple grey fleece sweater and black slacks combo matching my black chunky heels. My attire doesn’t scream rich or flashy. For accessories, I wore nothing but a silver necklace chocker that I noticed Kendall wore. It’s not the exact same but it was damn near impossible to distinguish from afar. My makeup is kept to the minimum grey eye shadow and lip shimmer.

Grabbing my plain nondescript black purse along with my black pea coat, Shelly and I made our way out my room and out of the whole condo to the elevators. I pulled out my Blackberry to find a text message from Liz telling me that Kyle told her that he stayed last night at his own house instead of the family manor. I closed my eyes as the elevator made its descent to the front lobby.

Maybe this is my lucky break that when I get there Kyle will just be leaving for the hospital. Once the taxi arrived, I climbed in and waved goodbye to Shelly. She mouthed ‘good luck’ to me before the car started moving forward. I gave the driver the address of the general area of Kyle’s place and he nodded his head in acknowledgement before heading west from downtown.
