"I know I told you two to go home.", the principal said.

"Just one more game."

"You said that an hour ago. Don't you have to pick up Maria?"

"Na got her."

"Just face it. I'm better than you. You're a sore loser.", Nicki said.

"He hasn't tried to do anything has he?"

"I'm not that big of a flirt."

"Lie again."

I laughed and threw a tennis ball.

"Your phone is ringing.", I said.

I pulled mine out my pocket and checked my messages.

"Hello?..Her dad was supposed to pick her up today...I'm on my way."

"You alright?", I asked.

She shook her head and walked in the office.

"I'll see you tomorrow.", I told the principal.

"Tell Maria I said hi."

I threw the basketball and walked to the office. I got all my stuff and walked out behind Nicki.

"Let me guess. He didn't pick your child up."

"I'm not surprised. He's probably in his office fucking a hoe. Nothing new. He does it a lot so it's really nothing I can do."

"Where he work at?"

"Meek no. You don't have too."

"I'm not taking no for a answer. Where he at Nicki?"

"That lawyer place around the corner."

"Aight. You go and get your daughter. I got it."

"Meek."

"Yes?"

"Thank you."

"No problem ma."

I wrapped my arm around her waist and walked out the school.

"You're not slick but I'll it slide."

"Do something for me."

"What?"

"Stop putting your head down. Let people see that smile."

She looked at me smiling and I smiled back. I got in my car and drove to pay Trey a visit.

"Hello?"

"I just got the call. You picking her up or me?", Trevor said.

"I am cause I'm pretty sure she's crying."

"I'll talk to him tonight Nic. Don't stress it."

"Oh trust me. I'm not.", I said and hung up.

I shook my head in frustration and stopped at a red light. My phone started ringing again and it was Trey.

"What?"

"I'm sorry Nicki."

"No you're not sorry cause if you were sorry, you wouldn't have done this shit. It's always something with you. I swear."
