Delaney's grip fastened around Carter's wrist. What was this? Carter's mind searched for possibilties, but struggled to find any that would apply.
The air was damp and fresh as the rain absensed itself, now only leaving the wettend pavement and dense breathing space.
Carter expected Delaney to stop at the bridge, make her decision, and make him leave her for good.
Only, Delaney never did what Carter expected.
She dragged him past it, making other plans. The ground attactched to the bridge desended at incline. The two paralleled themselves sideways, skidding down catiously.
Delaney forced Carter down with her, and if one sliped, they both would fall just the same.
The moist ground conflicted with the poor tration on Carter's shoes, they slid through the mud regardless of his steady legs.
Delaney grabbed full hole of his arm as she started to give in to the muddy ground.
Carter glanced her way expecting a look of terror, but was faced with a grin.
Delaney giggled as they both started to slide.
Now Carter was lost. One hundred percent. He took this time to realize, he could never know, never predict what would happen.
Delaney was no exception,
She could be dead in the morning, but she could also be alive.Carter also knew he was no exception either.
He didn't know.
"Hold on to something!" Delaney exclaimed, not fearfully , but excitedly.
Her sneakers were being eaten alive by the muddy nature floor, she scrambled her arms around her to find something to hold onto, besides Carter.
Carter shuffled so the two couldn't seperate. The plants around them swatted at there heads and limbs, almost of they were trying to help.
Finally it was no use, just like the car spinning out of controll, it was no longer up to them.
Delaney fell on her butt.
As the forced pulled them both down, Carter lips utter a
" No! "
The connection of them arms were stuck together. So inevitably, Carter fell on his butt. And they slid, like a winter afternoon , two children gone sledding.
Mud splattered to there faces like dirty snowflakes. This time was different than the car. Niether were scared.
Carter looked to Delaney's face as her eyes squinted closed, her teeth expose greatly in the best way, a smile. Her cheeks curved her rounded face into a new shape.
Carter let Delaney's laughs fill the ambience of his ears, looking at her , he decided to join in.
The slidding fall was unexpected. they created conflicting traction, leaving carvings in the vulnerable ground as it curved their trajectory.
When the slip settles, the they lay there in exhaust. Both on there backs they look to one another.
Carter examined Delaney, it's funny to image someone being their best while looking their worst.
Carter could never imagine that.Despite the fact the mud covered all her clothing, he though she was comfortable on her own skin. Even though her skin was splattered brown, it didn't change the fact that he saw her glow. No matter how many times a storm clouded in her eyes, he could see the dawning of light after the tears.
She looked back at him.
Carter saw that Delaney had gotten the fall she was looking for,
Maybe now she could finally live.
