We all stared at Ruby. Unsure what to say to her. Jamie was frozen to the spot; I guess it was a big shock to him that someone that acted like an adopted big Sister to him forgot who he was.

I looked over at Cobie; his eyes were glued on Ruby in shock. I looked at Mrs Fields; her eyes were glued on Ruby at shock. I looked at my parent, Troy and Jamie; eyes , glued on Ruby in shock.

Finally I looked back at Ruby who was staring right at me. Then she grinned. "You should have seen all your faces ! I've never seen you all so shocked. Of course I couldn't forget little J-Luke !".

A groan went around the room followed by a relieved sigh.

"That was not funny Ruby Fields !". Her Mum scolded her.

"You goose !". I half shouted at her.

"That was the fright of my life babe". Cobie admitted.

The only one who found it remotely funny was Jamie. I knew why; that's the sort of thing he would do.

Ruby's doctor shook his head. "I've definitely never had a patient like you before".

"Yeah , she's a real comedian". I told him sarcastically.

Ruby grinned. "What would you guys do if you didn't have someone as funny as me around every day ?".

"It's too painful to think about". I shuddered.

"I'll second that". Cobie said.

"Why did you pretend to do that though ? why not pretend you couldn't feel your legs or something ?". I asked.

Ruby pointed at the doctor. "I heard him telling you guys that I could have a chance of brain damage and I thought it was perfect to use".

I held my hand up. "Wait , but you were still unconscious when the doctor told us that ?".

Everyone nodded and gave Ruby an odd look.

"Yip. I was. It's true what they say though. When you're unconscious you can still here conversations going on around you. You just can't see the people. I heard Mum crying though so I knew he was talking to you lot".

"You heard me crying and still gave me the fright of my life ? you really are the devil child Ruby Fields". Mrs Fields scolded.

Ruby grinned. "Sorry Mum".

"That's so cool though !". Jamie exclaimed. "Mum how do I get into a coma ? I want to try".

Mum looked angry while Dad was trying to stifle a laugh. He was the relaxed one of the two of them. "Don't you even think about it Jamie Evans".

"I've already thought about it though Mum, cause' I just told you ?".

Mum just shook her head at him while the rest of us sniggered. Jamie didn't really understand when he should be quiet. He was lucky he was cute or else he wouldn't get away with half the stuff he did.

"You're an odd kid J-Luke". I commented.

"I learned that from my big Sister !". He shot back. I'll give him that. He's witty.

"Can I come in ?". A voice asked from the doorway.

We all turned to see Ruby's Aunt Jenna standing there.

"Of course Jen". Mrs Fields beckoned her in.

Jenna walked over to stand beside Ruby and I noticed Cobie's fists clench once again. I put my hand on his arm holding him back. He would never hit Jenna or anything. It was just his tongue that needed holding back at the moment or else words of venom would spew out.
