The next week flew by and it was already the first practice Saturday already. I was so nervous and I hadn't even got out of bed yet. Troy and I had been practicing by ourselves and I had been doing fine , I was even beginning to fool myself into thinking that , you know , maybe I could do this. Deep down though , I knew the truth, the amount of people that would be there on the night would terrify me into silence and probably even the practices considering we still had to sing in front of the whole class.
I wished I was more like Troy , he just radiated confidence and not only that , it was the type of confidence that just drew you in and made you want to be around him. If I was honest , I was also scared of Troy. I really liked him and I wondered how long it would be before he decided he could do better than a girlfriend who was about as brave as an elephant standing before a field mouse.
Troy didn't deserve my doubt , he had been nothing but supportive to me with everything from Ruby to this competition but I knew if I was honest , that he would eventually realise that he could do better than me and when that time came I would be ready , but it didn't mean I had to like it.
I sighed. Getting out of bed just bating mum who was now yelling up the stairs for me to get up because otherwise I would be late. I really didn't care if I was late today because I really didn't even want to go at all but I knew if I didn't I would be letting Troy and Mrs Powers down so I dragged myself to the shower and hopped in.
Once I was showered I dressed myself in underwear , a white skive with a black singlet top over top and some denim shorts. I found my pink and black shoes out them on and bolted down the stairs.
"You're just in time , Troy's mother just rang, they're going to be here in ten minutes."
I looked around the kitchen, spotting Jamie who was putting on his shoes no doubt getting ready to go to the skate park and mum making my breakfast , I hoped.
"Where's dad and Cobie ?"
"Your dad had to run into work and grab some paperwork and Cobie has gone to pick up Ruby."
I grinned , that was a definite highlight of today , once we got home from Glee Club Ruby would be here. Even though I had been seeing her every day I couldn't wait to see her. She was so lucky too , we had only one week of school left and then we would be going into school holidays. Ruby didn't mind that she had to do the last week of school , she was just happy that she wouldn't be stuck in hospital during the holidays and I had to admit that I was grateful she wouldn't either.
"Eat this , you've got about five minutes."
I turned around to find some streaky bacon on my plate and I grinned I absolutely loved bacon.
"Thanks mum !" I exclaimed before happily digging in.
Troy and his mum arrived just as I was washing my dishes. They honked and I grabbed my bag leaving mum to finish my dishes, quickly kissing her on the cheek ruffling Jamie's hair , much to his dismay, and sprinting out the door.
I could see Troy perched up in the passenger seat so I hopped in the back.
"Morning Janie" Mrs Salem greeted me.
"Morning" I smiled at her. She was dressed up quite nice so she must have been going out after dropping us off.
"You look nice Mrs Salem" I complimented her.
"She beamed at me. "Oh thank you dear ! I'm going out for lunch with some friends after I drop you too off."
"Sounds nice" I said before lapsing back into silence.
As we neared Glee Club I was getting more nervous by the second and I knew Troy noticed by the way he kept his mother talking about this that and everything so that she wouldn't strike up conversation with me. Troy was the best boyfriend ever and I wasn't sure what I would do if I was to lose him but I would cross that bridge when it came to it.
