Sky's POV-
I was happy the word was being operative here simply because now I know Jace and me are in a place where we could work on our relationship. We'd spent the remaining of the lunch hour in the locker room talking and getting to know each other better and what truly surprised me was how interested and attentive he'd been listening to everything I had to say.
Of course, I couldn't tell him I'm a werewolf, no; I needed to wait until he trusted me enough then to drop that bomb. The reason why I'm not happy right now is because of the Lativa Pack.
The council had given an okay to meet with Ezra and his pack before the Pack Treaty which begins in three days from today. I was less than pleased with this agreement because things were finally running smooth with my mate and if we had to go to war anytime soon; I would definitely kill.
All the prominent leaders; present and future waited out in the courtyard outside the main building patiently awaiting the arrival of the members of the Lativa Pack. I stood with Carter and Dale the three of us quietly conversing among ourselves the pros and cons of this meeting.
What really came as a shock to me were the two black SUVs that pulled into the driveway of the courtyard. The first thing that came to mind was only two. It was definitely not enough for an ambush. The three of us joined our superiors who we would one day replace.
I watched as Ezra stepped out of one vehicle followed by his father and two others and another four stepped out of the second vehicle. Two men clustered around Lativa's former alpha and the old man screwed his face up in disgust and disagreement. Ezra then shot his father a look causing the older man to retreat though with hesitation. The new alpha then turned to the heads of the Marcana pack with a friendly smile.
"Isaiah." Ezra said walking up to Marcana's alpha and extending a hand. Isaiah shook Ezra's hand returning the smile and what really got me was how at ease he seemed around the new Lativa leader. Perhaps, Ezra was good news after all.
"I see you managed to bring your father here." Isaiah said approaching Jessop who glared refusing to make peace and shake our alpha's hand.
"Dad!" Ezra snapped. "I'm not here to make enemies. I'm here to fix your mess and I can only do it if you co-operate with me." Wow, you know what, maybe Ezra meant good intentions.
"He doesn't have to Ezra..."
"No, he will. I'm sick of him." the young Lativa alpha spat raking his father with a disgusted stare. Tension, tension...
Jessop however, with no other alternative did eventually shake Isaiah's hand which followed Ezra introducing us to the other men. The other two men who stepped out of the vehicle with Ezra and his father were once under Jessop's rule but now under Ezra's and it had me thinking just how loyal were they to their new alpha. The other four guys who came with them were also new leaders as well consisting of Ezra's beta and two strongly influential dominants.
We proceeded to the conference room in the main hall of the building where we discussed Ezra's presence and listened to his proposition.
"Lativa is dying and it's no secret. Over the years, our numbers have dwindled due to the pack's inability to achieve alliances and mates since many packs are allies of Marcana's and given the bad blood between our packs; you get the picture. Many of our own has either turned rogue or went to another pack. I think it's time that all changes." Ezra explained confidentially.
"And Ezra, how do you suppose we go about this?" My father asked.
"It's a good thing you asked. I am without a mate..."
