Sky's POV-

How long has it been? Precisely two and a half months already since Jace and I started going out and still we managed to keep our relationship concealed. The cancer was getting worse and Jace seemed to be losing faith...he seemed to have given up or is giving up even though I try to convince him that he'll be alright.

I'd already explained the whole werewolf thing to him and the mating ritual. Once we mate and I put my mark on him, he'll be rid of any illnesses. He'll never know suffering again. Of course, he wouldn't become a werewolf even though I'd love to see what he'd look like as one. He'd have the healing ability of a werewolf and my mark enables that. He'll also be stronger and faster than humans, practically a werewolf but like I said before...he won't be able to shift.

The cancer has gotten so bad such that he sometimes forgets things more so than usual. He throws up excessively and the cancer is beginning to take its toll on him physically. The bags under his eyes are more noticeable but even though he sleeps excessively it still looks like he's sleep deprived. He's lost a considerable amount of weight where it's now noticeable and his skin is a ghostly shade of white.

He's also given up the urge to keep our relationship a secret for the good of his reputation and while I should be thrilled we shouldn't have to hide anymore, it pains me a lot to see where he stands now in the social pyramid. He's no longer on the basketball team, he looks a deadly shade of white like a freaking zombie walking the halls of the school and that asshole Brent; now top dog has everyone...well almost everyone treating Jace like an outcast.

Currently, the pack was having its weekly hunt and chase but instead of running around like I usually did, Jace and I were lounging out by a stream. Being my mate and new to the existence of werewolves, he wanted a peek into my world as a creature of the night as he put it.

So far, he seemed to like it a lot. He was completely captivated and consumed by his atmosphere when all the wolves of our pack shifted into their wolves and ran out into the woods. His eyes were wide and his mouth hung open like a child going to the zoo for the first time. Now, he sat reclining on a giant boulder near the stream.

"I'm going for a swim." He said suddenly getting up and beginning to remove his clothes.

"Do you think that's a good idea?" I asked as images of Jace drowning due to his muscle shutting down invaded my mind. In nothing but shorts, he approached me as my eyes ran the length of his body. He was well built with a slender figure to go with his perfect height and finely tuned muscles; not too big and definitely not too small. Though, since the cancer has been worsening, he seems to be losing some of his muscle.

"Can you for once stop being an overbearing pain? I know you're just worried but if you are then join me." He suggested giving me a warm smile and tilting his head to the side in a way that completely stomped me. I could never fight back whenever he gave me that look. Finally giving in, I shrugged off my clothes leaving my basketball shorts on and carefully led Jace into the water.

I know he hated it when I treated him like he was dainty and feminine but I wasn't taking any chances. Once he was in the water that reached him just above his waist, I stepped back and let him go watching him swim around.

He dipped his head under and disappeared underneath the water. For a few seconds, I heard the splashing sound of the water as he swam about paddling his feet and arms but then I heard nothing nor did I see any air bubbles. Panic seized me as a million images flew through my mind of him paralyzed and drowning.

"Jace?" I called waiting for any movement in the water. I got nothing. "Jace!" I called again trying to keep the panic from my voice. I called a third time only now I yelled and began moving around in the water, diving and searching for him as I went. I came back up my hair sticking to my forehead as panic gripped me hard as I'm unable to find him.
