Sky's POV-

"Are you sure you don't want me to stay with you?" I asked- for what appeared to be the millionth time this morning- coming to lean against the doorframe to the kitchen, crossing my arms over my chest and my ankles crossed. Jace only glared at me in annoyance as he got up from his seat at the island counter and came to stand in front of me.

"I'll be fine. We had sex this morning so, I think I'll be okay for the day...until you get back home." He replied, teasing at the end. I shook my head humming in response as he touched his shoulder where my mating mark lay claiming him as mine. I didn't bother to hide my smile as he leaned up and pressed his lips to my cheek, before walking back to the island counter, grabbing his bowl of cereal and heading into the living room where he plopped down on the sofa.

He turned the television set on, folding his legs under him. Given the severity of the pain he was in due to the transition, and that it could literally happen any time, Dale had suggested that Jace stay at home. He wasn't happy about it, since he had just returned to school after being kidnapped and hospitalized, but he understood. And since he was practically part of the pack now, Dale was his alpha and he couldn't disobey a direct order. I had volunteered to stay with him, but he only argued that just because he couldn't go to school, didn't mean I had to skip.

The truth, I'd rather be at his side.

"You know, sometimes I feel like you enjoy this transition thing a little too much." I replied as he shoveled a spoonful of milk and cereal into his mouth. He only glanced up at me with a sideways smirk, his eyes trailing the length of my body before he turned back to the television.

"Well, if you don't leave here now, you won't be leaving here in a few days." He teased, smirking when I scrunched my features in playful agony knowing exactly what he meant.

That's a much better way to spend the next few days than going to school and attending pack meetings.

I held my hands up. "Fine. I'm going." I said, walking over to the couch, where my bookbag lay and slung it over my shoulder before leaning over him. "Call me if anything happens." I instructed. Jace only smiled, placing the bowl off to the side, reaching up and interlocking his fingers behind my head, pulling me down for a kiss.

"Or...you can stay here and keep me company." He teased, and I growled against his lips.

"Don't tease me like that, Jace."

Jace just scoffed and fell back against the sofa. "Fine. Whatever." He muttered, rolling his eyes. I shook my head.

"Jace?" I drawled, but he just picked up his bowl and shoveled more cereal into his mouth. I laughed at his behavior. He was so adorable when he couldn't get what he wanted. "I'll speak to Isaiah and Nicole before I leave Marcana and ask them to pop by every few hours." I continued, as the idea popped into my head.

While I knew he'd be safe on his own for a few hours, he was in transition. His episodes of pain came at random and were difficult to predict at this stage. Carter had said however, that we'd know for sure when his transition would be completed. The pain episodes would happen a lot more frequently, and they last longer until eventually he shifted.

And even though they weren't frequent yet, and lasted for only a few minutes, I'd rather he not be alone when they happened. If I couldn't be there to hold him and soothe him while the pain struck him, I wanted at least one person I trusted to be there to, at the very least, offer him comfort.

Jace was now standing again, his bowl of cereal sitting on the coffee table as he linked his arms around my shoulders. "Would that be okay with you?" Jace paid me no mind as he tilted his head and pressed lips against the crook of my neck. He parted his lips, his tongue sliding out and against my neck in a gently caress as he kissed and suckled his way up to a spot just on my throat where his sucking deepened, and I was sure I would have a hickey there.
